So, I just got home from work. We\'ve been having some really bad rains today and some flooding. So, I\'m on my way to work and I\'m going through this development on my usual route. I stop at the stop sign and take the left, following an SUV. We are going down and hit some water. No big deal. I\'ve been hitting small patches of water on the roads all the time when it rains. I\'m going down and me and the guy in the SUV realize that the river overflowed, massively. I drive a 97 Thunderbird. It is not that high off the ground. I can feel it moving a bit with the water. I stay behind the SUV and follow his tracks. That really helped. This water is really deep. Must have been a bit higher than my door. I can see it through my wind shield. Didn\'t look to my left because if I lost concentration, I would have been washed away or atleast hit the guy infront of me.
We finally get out and there\'s a cop sitting there blocking the road. I\'m still in flood water, but only an inch or two, so I\'m fine. The guy infront of me gets out to talk to the cop. I can hear the cop yelling at him and the two talking. About 10 minutes later, the guy returns to his car. I lean out my window and ask the guy, "Is he letting us by?" Now, if the cop wouldn\'t let us through, I was NOT going through again. That had me at the edge of my seat. So, the guy in the SUV drives away (the rest of the road is fine at this point. Its uphill after that). I drive past the cop and he stops me. He is in his car and I\'m in mine. I couldn\'t see him. This is how the conversation goes. The cop, thoughout the whole thing has this major attitude that really pissed me off.
Cop in a major pissy attitude: "Well, what\'s your malfuntion? Didn\'t you see the cones?!?!
Me: "What cones? There were no cones. They probably got washed away." This was true. There were no cones. How did I know? There were no orange things across the road. The guy in the SUV probably wouldn\'t have gone through and there was another person coming behind me too. Would have been there in a couple minutes.
Cop: Where do you live?!?!
Me: Just up the street and off another road.
Cop: Beat it before I write you a ticket!!
What pissed me off about this is the guy had a major attitude and trying to make it seem like I should have known that the river was flooded and that there WERE cones there. It wasn\'t my fault there wasn\'t another cop at the OTHER end stopping people. Believe me, if there were cones set up, I would not have went through. The guy in the SUV too probably told the cop that there were no cones and that they were washed away and I\'m sure the guy/girl enroute behind me would say the same. Cops really piss me off sometimes. But driving through that flood kind of scared me. I didn\'t know if I would get washed away or what. It would have been a shame too if I lost my car. I just had repairs made on it.
