one of the major difference between an SLR camera and a normal digital camera is that with a SLR you are looking at exactly what your framing (allthought usually not 100%) . with cameras like S400 you are looking at a separate "viewfinder". They are usually right next to the lens to depict a very close representation of the picture.
With that said I love the s400!! its one of the smallest digital camera I have ever held in my hands. I wouldn\'t mind owning one of them just so I can carry it around. Got to love the metal body as well.
