Wish it will go blu-ray, I hate format wars.  At this point HD-DVD seems like a bad idea.

Hmmm....interesting...

I too hated format war.  If I have to pick between the two formats, Blu Ray seem like a better choice for the most obvious reason which is that it have a bigger storage than HD-DVD...

lol.

Nah. Doubt it. This might make things interesting but who knows. Having cartridges really hurt the 64 in some cases but it still sold very well. I would love to see an era in gaming as wild as the 32/64 era. Though i know this alone wont cause that to happen.

Haven\'t been keeping up with these new formats but how has Sony addressed the issue of needing both a blue and red lasers?  It sounds as if it will be costly compared to the HD-DVD solution.

Sony uses the method similiar to PS2.

PS2 only have 1 laser (2 lens in 1 laser).  One len pick up CD and one len pick up DVD.

PS3 does the same stuff, (3 lens in 1 laser) One len pick up CD, one pick up DVD, and last but not least pick pu Blu Ray.

Although, making seperate lens are more recommended such as 3 seperate laser lens but Sony want to keep the cost down.

2 seperate laser lens are found in some dvd players that are inepensive nowadays.

Such as Panasonic dvd players, and possibly Pioneer too.  Not sure about Sony though but I think they uses 1 laser for their bottom of the line dvd player...

the benefit of seperate laser lens for reading ead type of disc seperatedly are longivity of laser, better laser pickup which can read dirty disc, scratch disc easier...

but either way works just fine...

Thanks for the response.  I\'m just wondering because Blu-Ray sounds great however I\'ve been reading, on TXB forums, it\'s the more costly solution.  I could look all this stuff up but it\'s easier to ask you guys...and possibly get a discussion.:)
