Strange problem
« on: October 24, 2004, 03:12:46 AM »
Hi guys. I have a friend with a problem that I couldnt solve. The matter is that she has internet connection (DSL) and cannot browse the net properly. Every link she clicks, the browser returns a PAGE NOT FOUND msg error.

If she writes the url on the address bar, for example http://www.cnn.com, the page will appear without any problem, but, however, if once inside the site she clicks on international news, the error appears.

I dont know what\'s the problem here. I advised her to update the navigator and didnt work. We checked the DNSs and evcerything was ok. We even updated the JAVA module but it didnt work as well.

Any of you may know where is the problem? She cannot browse at all, you know, that\'s a ****ing problem. I\'ll be more than pleased to hear any advice.

Thanx a lot. Mike.

i am not sure either.

I only guess that it could be a virus.  But maybe not.

Make sure all of her drivers are updated and  that her tcp/ip and the other protocols are installed too, I have this problem on my 2000 professional hd at school and have yet to fix it, but I\'d try those 2 t hings and see if they help.

Has she got AdAware installed and done a scan with it? In that case it has probably screwed up her winsock and tcp/ip protocols. It has happened to me and to my father. If she has MSN Messenger and Messenger works then it\'s definitely AdAware which has screwed up something.

If she has got AdAware installed, she should uninstall it and get the winsock fix from the adaware homepage.
