I think development tools will come into play in a big way.  As games get more expensive to produce and machines get more complex to make those games the tools used might make a world of difference to the developer/publisher.  We already know that MS is going with XNA, which has already been met with some praise/criticism, and we don\'t know what Sony has in mind yet but we know they are working on something in that regard.  Nintendo hasn\'t said anything...no surprise there.

Yeah, but those are means to cope with increased levels of development complexity : and who is in control of those means ?

Exactly, big guys like Sony, MS and such. They will try to force their means as \'industry\' standards. Will there be a time when small devs will be forced to conform to such standards at the price of keeping their content original ?

Personally i dont know whats going to happen. Im somewhat excited and kinda skeptical because it seems like sony underestimated the next gen. I just cant help but feel like sony will pull a Jaguar because they thought they could get away with not so stellar jumps in technology -

On the other hand i hope sony has something juicy under their sleeves. I cant imagine what the next gen will look like and to see graphics better than those produced on the top pc games would just be nuts.

One thing i am scared about is the loss of smaller companies. With the PS small companies would come out with some pretty nice games every once in a while. Now you dont see as many small companies and bigger ones just keep on gobbling up franchises etc.

Meh. Theres a lot on my mind. Verbalizing it just seems difficult at this point in the morning.
