It may or may not read burned DVDs, depending on how the DVD is encoded. This is with ALL DVD burners. Usually, you can play burned DVDs on any DVD player if it\'s in the proper format. I burned some DVDs with music videos on it and whatnot, and it plays fine on my PS2.

Burn -R format DVDs and it should work fine.  I can read every -R dvd i\'ve burnt.

Yeah, I agree with that. Never use RW\'s for anything other than backing up information. Same thing with RW CD\'s and burning music. They just won\'t play in any audio devices...

Again...stick with -R like §ôµÏG®ïñD said...

its all depend on the the blank media.

I used DVD+R Sony brand 4x speed and it burnt and read perfectly fine on all 3 dvd player (sony player, playstation2, and panasonic).

I got the same result with TDK +R media.  Weird thing is, my ps2 only read TDK +R for 4x speed media.

Now I have 8x DVD+R media for Sony and TDK.  Also some 8x DVD-R from TDK, looks like TDK have increased compatiblity as they increased the disc speed.

I tried GQ media and it have too much error that it\'s unplayable on sony dvd player and ps2.  The newer panasonic dvd reads it just fine.

So, i can confirmed that ps2, sony stand alone dvd player, and new panasonic dvd player can read both - and + medias.

That means, blank disc media does makes a difference on compatiblity, not just - or + format.

Some brand name to recommend:
Verbatim, Sony, and TDK.

Avoid no names brand as they to suck and hence costing cheap.  GQ is one of them.  I haven\'t try other lesser known brand name beside that.

I bought 50 Sony 8x DVD+R  blank media for $20.

The store Staples have blank disc media (TDK and Sony) on sales every now and then, such as from $25  down to $10 for 25 discs.

-R is a more compatible format then +R for ps2 and if i remember right, DVD players in general. I\'m using the crappest DVDs u can get (Princo) and i have no problems what so ever.

There\'s no need to spend more if you can get the same effect with cheaper brands. The only problem I\'ve had has been with the disc not keeping the information stored on it for very long. Almost like the information was being "decayed" over time. Don\'t use "DigitalMedia" discs. They suck.

I have found princos tend to have problems on the outta tracks. So i\'m stuck at burning at 2x.  I\'m gonna start getting Ritek 8x dvds for my next lot. I\'ve heard they are a very good brand and i can get them for alittle more then the princos 4x dvds.

okay,

strange thing happen.  I just burned an Sony 8x DVD+R blank disc at 2.4x speed, and it didn\'t play on my playstation 2.  It play on other dvd player except playstation 2.

But their 4x DVD+R disc plays just fine.  I wonder what wrong here...

maybe fake Sony 8x DVD+R?  Shrug.
