Sorry to interrupt all your other arguements but I just had a few questions, and wanted to see what you guys thought about it all.

As usual I procrastinated on school work and have a persuasive speech to do tommorrow over a policy.  I choose to do it on the Electoral College.  I\'m going to speak on moving towards a popular vote as opposed to the electoral college in place now.

I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this issue, and what you think should be done.  Also, if you guys now why they put the electoral college together in the first place that\'d be great.  I\'m sure I can find a lot of info online but figured you guys would have something to say.

From the link above.  Our founding fathers did not trust citizens to elect the President - seeing as the way things are in modern politics I don\'t blame them.  Voter fraud and movements to push for non citizens getting the right to vote... the Electoral College isn\'t looking so bad.

Yeah...the past 2 elections have been really screwed up, with much aggravation from all 3 parties. The Bush/Gore election was a migraine of a competition. And the funked up votes that were recounted 10 billion times, that was just stupid.

Thanks for the article Cored.  It gave me a good idea of what the other side has to say about it all.  I\'d post my ideas here but I\'d rather put together the speech.

You are going to do a speach AGAINST the electoral college?

I certainly hope it\'s not a debate because you will get slammed.  

Even a state like yours would have virtually no say in the country, let alone places like Alaska, Montana, Dakotas, Carolinas, Hawaii, etc.....


The only thing I would change is electoral college would not be an all in approach per state.  Electoral vote would be proportionate to the popular vote rather than an all in approach that we have now.

You must understand the speech is not in a political science class but a simple speech class and she won\'t really care what I\'m talking about.  She\'ll think it sounds interesting but really will be listening for how I talk, and making sure I move around fluidly.
