nVidia + Sony = PS3 GPU

I agree. There\'s no way they\'re going to make it a huge monster. It will be small, but it will pack a  punch...like Goku The chips will be smaller, so I don\'t see how that would make the console bigger. I think there\'s a trend being set in size standard...PSTwo slimline, PSP...PS3?

Nothing has been said about a HDD in PS3 yet AFAIK. Maybe they\'ll use a small 2.5" lap top HDD to conserve space. Toshiba is a big lap top HDD maker... Who knows? We\'ll have to see.

It\'s going to be fun next generation nonetheless. The Xbox2 will be powerful as well and will most likely utilise it\'s power better but if the Cell CPU is as powerful as they say AND with the Nvidia GPU I think that the PS3, power-wise, will be far ahead of the other consoles.

The GPU of the PS3 was the main thing I was worried about regarding the design of the PS3 but not anymore.

I wouldnt say that, but i wouldnt leave out that possibility. This gen i really didnt care much about ati and nvidia\'s role. Perhaps its because i had too much pride in my little sony box being mostly sony or japanese (how patriotic - i know).

And i never said the two "invaded" the industry but i guess im on the reverse side of those that are pc snobs (just not as bad). I mean with IBM doing the CPU\'s of both X2 and PS3 (along with ati/nvidia GPU\'s) it just makes you wonder "why dont they just go ahead and build the two systems under the same roofs and make the games interchangeable."

Im all about competition and of course there is still plenty but this just makes it less .... something.

It\'s all about marketing & propietary tech which that produces.

Sony isn\'t getting a off-the-shelf IBM cpu nor getting a console gpu version of Geforce6800 into PS3.

It\'ll all be custom design technology.

and Xbox2 should use a x64 bit chip (i could be wrong thou i dont read much on it) so both technologie are far from each other.

eh....I wold have prefered they used ATI\'s but oh well.........  and is it just me or could they have put a laptop HDD in the new Slimmer PS2\'s?

I could have swore that some article posted said that ps3 was going 64bit.

Sony can do it without Nvidia, I know this for a fact. A little bird told me .

Remember ; it was Sony who asked Nvidia\'s help, not
the other way around. Sony can learn alot from NV about
dev tools. NV\'s FX cards were flawed indeed, but that
was only becuz they were shut off from the exact DX9
specs becuz at the time they were in a fight with MS.

Nvidia is on the right track with NV40 again. Great stuff.

Anyway, the next generation is going to be amazing. I mean, PS2 and Xbox seem kinda bleh compared to PSone. Sure they\'re better, but not that much better. I hope this generation will deliver draw dropping action (although I fear it might be another gen ).
