Microsoft\'s J Allard downplays graphics..
« on: May 20, 2005, 05:00:03 PM »
It looks like microsoft is aware that sony bested them and outdid them graphics wise with the playstation 3...
"Halo could have had weaker graphics, but people would have still loved it..."
We can\'t get all hung up as an industry and say it\'s all about graphic fidelity," Allard commented. "I kind of put the \'does it look better?\' secondarily. Not because it\'s not important, not because I don\'t think we\'re not going to have a system to do it, but because we\'re almost good enough."

I think the public has become more interested in the Playstation 3, and microsoft is scrambling to pick of the peices. From what i have scene, the X360 does have inferior graphics, but don\'t get me wrong... I\'m getting a x360 on launch day (i plan on trading in my XBOX and all my games except Halo2.)

You do realize you\'re comparing tech demos to actual games in progress, don\'t you?

If you want to compare tech demos then watch the Ruby demo from ATi.  It\'s supposedly finished 360 hardware, and I hear it\'s beautiful.  I believe you can find it on http://www.xboxyde.com.

When actual software is shown then we can start to draw comparisons.  In the mean time I hear that new Ghost Recon 3 footage looks fan-fucking-tastic, some claiming it blows the Killzone footage away.

As far as Sony "besting" Microsoft that seems to be up in the air.  The conference no doubt goes to Sony, they did a terrific job on unveiling the PS3.  However, some reports from E3 say that people got over the rolling tech demos at the Sony booth and went to check out what 360 had going, and they liked what was on display.

I probably need to put this in my signature to keep from typing it over and over: it\'s too early to tell.

I\'m also hearing the Ghost Recon footage is pre-rendered...which just makes things all the more confusing.

I\'m getting quite tired of all these damn comparisons, and I\'m just eagerly waiting for some actual in-game footage.

MS is defintely practicing some damage control, and Sony is a master of hype machine.

All\'s fair in love and the console wars

Sony rolled out a bunch of prerendered cutscenes and now everyone has their panties in a twist.  Wake me when they show something in realtime that looks as good as Killzone 2.

Sony done the same thing they do every generation.
Roll out the cutscenes.
Show tech demo\'s, talk about it being realtime (in the process, spin-docotring the word "realtime" to suit their needs) and the collective group of fans get all excited.

There is no way MS could compete with the Sony hype machine. Their best bet is now to focus on launch games.

yea i don\'t like when either company show tech demo\'s... y\'know i seen the one where sony had a bunch of rubber duckies in the tub...that\'s fine and all but just show some in game graphics with gameplay and at least a majority of the effects on...
knowledge, wisdom & understanding..these are the basic fundamentals of life

if you can\'t amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t....
