Lexmark X75 Printer Problem

Hey everyone.  I recently hooked up my sister\'s printer (Lexmark X75) to my computer (operating on Windows XP). The problem is, it prints pictures just fine, but it won\'t print text (which, as I initially hooked it up to print an essay, was it\'s main purpose). What might the problem be? Both of the ink cartridges are brand new by the way. Thanks for any help!

Try changing the color of the text to red and see if it prints.  If it does, sounds like an ink problema.

I had this problem once and it was because I was running my printer through my scanner.  If nothing like that is involved then it sounds like your black cartridge needs cleaning or replacement.

I tried printing it in red, and it worked.  Does that mean that the black cartridge, although new, may be faulty?  Or is it the printer?  Thanks guys!

if the black cartridge is faulty, exchange it for a new one.

I know you\'re not an idiot but just to make sure; take out the black cartridge and check to see if you fully peeled the protective seal off.

In my humble opinion if the cartridge isn\'t the problem then it\'s the Lexmark.  Cheap printers do not last long.  I\'d just drop the dough on an HP Officejet.  A one-time cost that will do you good when you really need it.

I own an HP deskjet and now I think I rather have Epson printer instead because like their commercial said, "Run out of blue?  Jus replace the blue"...

While HP still uses two cartridges.  One for black and white and one for color...what if  you run out off cyan (blue), but you still have magenta and yellow?

That\'s why i prefer Epson or Brothers over HP.  Different catridges for different primary color.

cannon printers have like 7 different color cartridges I think

I think the newer Epson have like 6?  It\'s really that necessary?  I thought 4 is enough?...

I have a Canon.  4 different cartridges.  It doesn\'t matter, they all run out about the same time.  Savings are negligible, especially when you factor in overall quality over an extended period of time.

My next printer will definitely be an HP.

to each their own I suppose.  Everybody have their own opinion and taste on products.  I haven\'t try Epson printer before, so I am thinking of upgrading to an Epson printer somewhere in the future.  I am eyeing one of those printers where you can also print  CD label on directly on the disc...
