actually, depending on the film, i get a massive headache. isnt every frame shwn twice, making movies 48 fps?
Pretty much anything that are film are being edited in 24fps for playback. The most common type of film are 35 mm, maybe lower budget may uses 16 mm and top quality may go to 70 mm film. The size of the film, not to be confused with speed/frame rate...
But those type of film are still being edited out as 24 fps for playback in movie theather. Because they want to cut cost, so they didn\'t bother using higher than 24fps. And film projectors play them back at 24 fps too, nothing more and maybe nothing less.
Some projectors use twice the refresh rate than the framerate to reduce flickering when viewing. More expensive projectors may refresh 3x the amount of framerate being shown per second.
That means, each of the frames may repeat 2x or 3x to get 48 or 72 fps to sync with refresh rate. Again, I am just guessing about repeating the frames, but I do know film projectors runs at either 48 Hz or 72 Hz though to reduce or elimate flickering (72 Hz)...
