That\'s right.  You sell a game used?  They (game developers) want to tack on a tax to that, since they want a cut.  How they would enforce this worldwide, with sites like ebay out there, let alone in the UK, where they\'re examining the issue?   Who knows.  DRM on future games with phone activation? *shudder*...

Whell, artists in Europe already get a cut from their paintings whenever they get resold. And they\'re thinking of legislating for that here in Australia. I can understand the mentality in that but I don\'t think it should apply to games as well. Painters, etc. only get to make one peice and they deserve to get some money as those peices rise in value. ie not just the fatcat art dealers.

But that\'s not how it is with games. You have initial development cost but it costs like $2 to press and package copies. This is just wrong.

BS like most taxes..   The "USED" game was paid for when it was bought original, paying the developers to sell a game which u own is retarded.

If I buy a mentos..

Then I decide I don\'t want the mentos..

...and someone else does want a mentos..

...and I have a mentos..

.. and he wants my mentos..

..and I was to sell my mentos to him..

..would that mean..

..that...

...... forget it...

This is a side effect of the slumpy part of gamedevelopment.

short production cycles of mainstream games leads to ;

fairly shallow mainstream games (I\'m NOT saying bad) which leads to ;

alot of ppl getting bored quickly with those games. which leads to ;

either piracy or sell through.

Imo, the publishers should have less influence on game content creation. CEO\'s like EA should think more about long term effects of their policies instead of short term (5 years term) profits.

Tell \'em, Nolan.

I don\'t see how it could be enforced though. You can always sell to a friend or whatever. I buy more and more used games (like games I wanted years ago but never had a job to get money to get them). Ah well.
