Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:27:55 AM »
Question:

I have cable connection for internet, that cable goes in through my house and into a router.  That router sends the connection into 5 different rooms in my house.  One of them is in my room, I am looking to put that connection into another router, so I can have access to internet on my PC and PS2 at the same time.  Also, I will be connecting my printer with an ethernet cable so that I can print to that printer from anywhere in the house.  My question is, can I go from a router into another router, or will I run into problems.

I\'ll let you guys mock me and then give me an answer.

Steelers RULE! ;)

I had a similar problem which I solved by connecting my wife\'s PC to my Mac (ethernet connection), the Mac is wirelessly connected to the router and acts as the internet host for the PC.

Maybe you can use your PC as the internet host for the PS2.

Most standard routers can be used in this manner.  Check the manual, it\'s generally easy to do.

aaaahhhh, RTFM... never get tired of that one.

Switch is definitely your motive, however why do you need to hook the printer to the router? Hook it to the pc and share the printer.

if the printer is network capable, use that.

because the PC it\'s shared too must be turned on and functional for the rest of the network to use it

I did what you\'re trying to to Hurricane, and these doods are right.  Just get a switch.

You *can* get a router though and it will work, just don\'t use the WAN port on the secondary router.
