New Tool album...

i am a quite a tool devotee.

the thing that makes me continue to listen to this album is the continuality. at least to me, the album is an epic hour long song.

every other tool album seems dissected, not in a negative way. this album just flows.

i like it, :P

Thank you for summing up every one of your posts in this thread. The album could be terrible and you\'d find a reason to like it. Bravo to you.

And the only song I can tolerate is \'The Pot\' and I\'m not really sure that I would consider it a great song.

Speaking of tool...

I picked up the Parabola and Schism dvds (9.99 each) yesterday. Even though I have seen both the music videos before, they contain (rather strange) commentary, and a cool remix.

Wondering if they will release a music video for this album... ?

For those that are interested, or unawares:

The album was released here yesterday, and I picked it up today after work. I\'ve only had time to listen to one song (and seeing as most people agreed on The Pot being a good song, I picked that one) and it was excellent. Previously I have heard Vicarious and while it too is a decent song I feel somewhat disappointed purely by the fact that it isn\'t that huge step forward. It has a very similar texture to it that Lateralus had. Which isn\'t a bad thing given that Lateralus is my personal favourite album of theirs, but given the time between albums and the hype and whatnot, I was hoping for more than Lateralus ver. B.

Again, though, this is only first impression of two songs, and overall it\'s extremely positive. Unfortunately I won\'t really be able to give a concrete impression of what I think of the album for a couple of weeks until it sinks in. :)

However, I can talk about the album artwork; which is excellent. Again, very Lateralus-ish in some respects with some other nice imagery which isn\'t completely congruous with their previous efforts. However, what makes it truely exceptional is the inclusion of stereophonic glasses on the front cover which when folded and viewed through correctly gives the pictures inside the booklet an incredible 3-D look. And it truely does look incredible. Their best effort yet, IMO.

Iv only listened to it once. not THAT bad like LIC was saying. But most of the songs are just decent, nothing special.

But i do like 10,000 days (the song) a lot..really good song. Wings is good too. Vicarious for the first 3 minutes is great..the rest, meh. Jambi and the pot are above average, but not insanely good. Havent listened to the last 3 songs in depth.

Was kind of hoping for a H or Eulogy kind of song.

Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

The album doesn\'t have the accessability of Aenima, nor the quality of Lateralus. It\'s stuck somewhere inbetween the two, and I\'m not sure what I\'m supposed to think of it.  I do enjoy it though.

Jumpy, I really like you a lot, too. I think of you as my little buddy and I promise to care for you and nurture you whenever you feel down or lonely. Please be my baby tonight, for I enjoy you as a person, and as a lover. Be mine forever, and I\'ll return the favour, with considerable interest. Kisses and hugs.

The only reason this album isn\'t being received as so great is because it contains some of Tool\'s heaviest music, along with their softest moments....

from 3:52-6:00 on 10,000 days is probably the only highlight on the cd (but you have to listen to the first 3:51 to enjoy it). Addicted to this damn song. The rest is..what LIC said.

lost keys couldve been shortened from 3 minutes to..30 seconds. and intension is boring.

but..10,000 days makes up for it.

That is the worst excuse ever. You are one of those blind fans who just try to make up excuses for an album not to live up to the hype or potenial of the band. Look, I love Tool, but I\'m not deaf and I know that this album is a complete dissapointment. If it was any other band, it would be passable, but with Tool people expect an album of quality and this just does not deliver.

Another poster on a different forum said this and I agree with it.

"As a collection of B-sides this would be..decent.. As a new Tool album, it\'s simply marginal."

So true.
