Then came the horrible news, RSX appears to be limited to setting up 275 Million triangles/second, anemic compared to the 500+ million in XBox360. When asked about this apparent thumping dished out by MS, the reply from one notable ISV relations boffin was a terse \'What a Piece of Junk\'. Talk about a steak in the heart.

Half the triangle setup capability in the PS3, could things get worse? Yes, far far worse, how about another disparity of three orders of magnitude? No, I am not joking, looking at Sony\'s own figures, Cell appears to be pretty badly broken.

Debunked the same day

Another week, another PS3 rumor fire quickly decimating rational thought on the internet. We should start billing Sony for putting these things out. This time, British computing tabloid, The Inquirer, is running a piece titled, "PS3 hardware slow and broken." It\'s full of the usual Inquirer stuff: bad spelling, horrible grammar, and (most importantly) specious arguments. So, before we even get to what they\'re claiming, understand that their story could be considered entertainment, much the way the Enquirer is. Here goes:

An Inquirer writer had the good fortune to sit next to Anonymous Guy on a recent flight to Japan who dished about the PS3\'s new Cell and RSX chips. "Oh my God, did you hear? Cell is like, totally broken and junk. It\'s MBs are all, like, messed up where the GBs should be ... and stuff." Alright, that\'s not a direct quote, but a decent approximation. It isn\'t worth going through and breaking down the arguments since a little common sense would go much further.

It\'s amazing what some people call journalism these days. :blah:

Tjere\'s one on every continent.  I actually enmjoy reading the National Enquierrer from time to tmie... it lest me know exactly what I should *not* be believing.

Spong is right up there with the sh^tty journalism sites. It\'s ridiculous what some people think they can get away with in journalism.

What the hell are you babbling about?  You posted an article that debunked something that was already debunked.  The thread was dead.

Then why in God\'s name wasn\'t it locked when it spawned in the first place !?

The article\'s alright, since it is an on record comment by developers themselves.
It even contains some nice look-back insight on current gen, for those who weren\'t in the know.
