Gov\'t regulation of games

Now Hillary Clinton\'s campaign ads mention violent video games.

What do you do in the case of someone you want to vote for (Hillary or whoever), but you\'re against something like this part of it?

Look at the big picture and vote for that person anyway? Throw your vote away?

I don\'t think kids should be playing GTA...as far as regulating them I think it\'s fine. It\'s not like they\'re going to not let them be released, cripes. So you may have to show ID to buy the next GTA, big deal. You show ID to buy booze & porn, so how would this be any different?

BTW Hillary Clinton is a bulldyke cunt.

meh,..i was never really big on her...she\'s only riding Clinton\'s fame and that\'s it, whenever politicians speak out against pointless issues as video-games (a billion dollar industry), they are only trying to cater to parents...who most likely let these same kids watch rated R movies...for 2008 i\'m likin\' that dude obama barakka, i think that\'s his name,...anyway he\'s a breath of fresh air comin out of the dem\'s camp,....everybody else is stale...

as far as voting for the person anyways? i would still vote for them, i\'m pretty sure the other values concerning my life....job stability, way of life and other personal issues far outweigh anything regarding video games.....
knowledge, wisdom & understanding..these are the basic fundamentals of life

if you can\'t amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t....

Chizzy, I personally don\'t care if you don\'t think kids should play GTA. I might have kids under 18 who can handle it, and I think they should be able to buy it.

Leave it up to ESRB and retailers and parents, just like movies. No government interaction required. Use my tax money to put armor on troops, not to get old people to vote for you by pretending violent games are an issue.

And really, Hillary in particular only got into the fight after wingnut Jack Thompson got in her ear. It probably had to do with the hidden sex scene in GTA and not violence in the first place. Secret nudity is bad! Send people to prison!

Get out of here with that nonsense.

End of the day, most of the politicians KNOW that videogames aren\'t a root cause, or major problem for the youth or anyone else.  That said, it\'s a hotbutton issue, that they can campaign on, but once elected, I would expect them to simply put more restrictions on who can purchase games (a-la movie ratings and entrance) rather than controlling actual content.  Every time a state tries to regulate content, it gets overturned, and I don\'t see a court destroying the freedom of expression for American companies anytime soon.

yea..if by "regulating" they mean showing ID to buy it, go for it.

but if "regulating" means constricting..then fuck that.

and eik, if you think ur kid under 18 can handle it, then buy the game for him. Kids suck every bit of info in, so if they get a hold of that before filters of what\'s good and whats bad in real life, it can have its impact.

I wouldnt go on a crusade about it, but i wouldnt mind having to show an ID.

Hillary Clinton is a huge bitch. I don\'t see this getting much support except by far right conservatives.

Yeah but the far right, like the religious nuts and ultra conservatives, don\'t like these video games too, especially violent ones. Shit, they want censorship of the internet and movies. Fuck that. Don\'t want your kids to see violence? Don\'t show them this shit and buy it for them. Its that simple.
