Enable 525p in PAL PS2 games?
« on: December 09, 2006, 04:01:30 AM »
How the heck do I enable 525p in games that support it?

According to this list; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Progressive_Scan_PS2_Game games like Black, Jak 2-3, Shadow of the Colossus and The Getaway should support 525p resolution. But of the games I have tested (Jak 3, Black, SOTC) I only get an 480p output. :(

Has anyone gotten this to work? Btw, SOTC looks quite nice in 480p, but I would like to see what it looks like in an even higher resolution.
Oh and PS2 DVD should support progressive scan correct? Even the slim model? I see no option for this while looking through the DVD-settings on my PAL model.

SOTC in 480p.

Sadly my TV has no built in FSAA feature. :/

I wish PS3 would render PS2 titles in 720p with 16x FSAA and 60fps. :D

Oh and 525p is 480p apparently.. Weird. :/
I found the Progressive Scan option while playing a movie (the option only appears when certain movies are playing apparently) but the option to turn PS on was greyed out, even when the movie was stopped (via circle button).

Perhaps Europe will switch to the NTSC standard one day? :D

On any normal PAL tv, PAL60 via Euro scart RGB cable owns NTSC anytime.

Anyway, i have a 15.4" laptop atm and i hooked up my PS2 to it via a TV card.

Hitman Bloodmoney PS2 does have the 480P Progressive scan option, yet it won\'t won\'t work on laptop 1680x1050 rez screen.

The only thing NTSC has going for it is 60Hz.. NTSC = Worse colours, lower resolution than PAL. You can easily see when they broadcast something NTSC on TV here.. The colours look weird and the image is very blurry.

Besides, HD is just around the corner. Death to NTSC and PAL. :)

You have the PS2 connected via component right? Prog Scan will only work via component.

^ Then I\'m SOL... it\'s via S-video... the TV tuner card only accepts S-video and the standard composite connection.
