As in Network Attached Storage

They are becoming pretty popular these days, does anyone here have one?

I was thinking of getting the Linksys NSLU2 for haxxing and installing various Linux-apps, but I changed my mind so I\'m thinking of getting the QNap TS-109 Pro with a 250GB HDD.

I will use it as an iTunes server, Photo/Music/Video server via TwonkyMedia. It can also be used as an FTP, HTTP etc. server, so its very versatile.

Well I got mine, great little device.

Using it as iTunes server, TwonkyMedia station (streaming audio/video/photos to PS3), FTP-server, webhost (website and forum works, no problem).

Very happy with it. :)

It looks pretty cool. How much did it cost?
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Total cost was 451USD, but everything is expensive here (my PS3 cost me almost 900USD ;) ) so I bet you could get away with much less in USA/Canada.

I was going for the NSLU2 at first, that thing costs like 600 Kronor which is nothing, but I changed my mind and got the QNap since I read the NSLU2 can have problems streaming HD video. Its a bit of a step, ~2500 Kronor vs 600, but I\'m happy with the device. :shy:

It has a HDD Spin-down feature which lets the internal HDD spin down to a full stop after XX minutes of inactivity, it works well. The unit does not get that hot either, the highest temp I have seen is around 35 Celsius for the HDD. You can even set a upper limit for the HDD temp.
