How the hell is this guy getting a cabinet seat?

The message here is simple, cheat on your taxes and you\'ll get a cabinet seat.  Isn\'t this the same guy that likes to raise taxes for everyone else, and he cheated on his own taxes!

God it is so irritating how people like this get into power.
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan

I have never especially liked Daschle, and I agree that he\'s an idiot for trying to get away cheating on his taxes (if that\'s what it was).  I can only assume it was intentional, but who knows?

Finding ways to cheat on your taxes seems to be a national pastime, but when you\'re serving in public office, you need to hold yourself to a higher standard than Joe the CEO.

I don\'t think Obama and his team knew about this. Otherwise, he would never have gotten the appointment.

True, I do not think Obama would be so stupid to do that knowing about it.

Well Obama actually knew about that other guy\'s tax problem as well...and he still supported him...Tim Geithner or whatever his name is.....and Daschle just withdrew his name from being Obama\'s health secretary...i guess his tax problems are a bit more involved than what\'s bein stated....how can these guys or any polititian for that matter get over on their taxes for years on end?

Obama takes the blame.  I had a prof make an interesting assessment on why Carter was viewed as so much of a failure. It was simply because he took the blame on things instead of trying to pass it off.

Wonder how the public will perceive Obama doing this.

I see it as either good or not important as far as my view of Obama. He actually mentioned he was angry about it in one statement. You know that\'s because he\'s trying to do one thing and something like this goes against that. Shows that he is serious about what he\'s trying to do, which is good.

Regardless, Daschle may not have been the man for the job after all. I haven\'t heard much about the woman who stepped down, but hopefully we\'re better off and if this is coming to light because of Republican watch dog groups, then they\'re doing good work.
