Question....
« on: March 01, 2010, 06:33:28 AM »
I just purchased heavy rain a few days ago, and while i was trying to play it, it stated that there wasn\'t enough space on the hard disk to run so the game automatically shut down. Now i\'ve been deleting various game saves(not game data) from other games in hopes of clearing up some space.

It should be noted that i have the 40 mb version which i thought would be more than enough memory since i don\'t download anything or go online...so my question is, if i were to upgrade to bigger drive, can i just get any drive or do i have to be specific and is it fairly easy enough to switch it out and would it be compatiable with the ps3?

I didn\'t think i\'d run out of room from just playing games so quickly...

^^Thanks, but i\'m confused...i\'ve never been online with my system ever....and if somehow the new upgrade that came with the  heavy rain disk caused this, how do i fix the problem?, by going online?

I did manage to get heavy rain to work, but i had to delete some game saves and metal gear solid game data to free up some space, but if it\'s not even a space issue and it\'s actually something else, you\'re saying that i have to go online for this problem to be fixed?

I guess the ps3 thought this year was a leap year, and it got all screwed up when the system thought it was february 29th when there was no feb 29th.

but they fixed the problems so it should work fine now. Not sure what happens if you\'ve never connected online, or if you havent connected online after they fixed the problem, but it\'s too much of a coincidence you ran into a problem with heavy rain on that day

unless you actually filled up your hard drive, but i kind of doubt that

2)Check what the File System type is by going to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Manager. Select the external drive and read the "File System" type. The file system type must be FAT32 in order for the Playstation to recognize it.

the thing is even though you are not going online and downloading stuff, the massive amount of data that takes up space on your ps3 is the Game DATA not the save files

the game data is just what some games will install onto the hard drive for faster loading and such. These files are generally 1-6GB of data so if you want to grab space then delete those not your save files. Deleting them will only make it to where next time you play that game again you just reinstall it back to hdd instead of losing your save.
