Should I buy a PS2 now or wait?

Is there a lot of problems with PS2? I have enough money to get one now, but I heard theres lots of overheating problems, freeze, and DVD skipping(?). Should I wait couple of months?

I haven\'t had any problems with mine.  But if you have enough self-control to wait... I would.  There aren\'t any GREAT titles (except SSX) yet.  Next year there will be several good games... might as well wait until them.  I was impatient... NOW NOW NOW, GIMME GIMME GIMME... If I could wait, I would until the eBay prices drop or new games come out, etc...

i am going to wait until after christmas because i have heard of these problems too and it should be easier to get one too

If the only doubts you have about buying a ps2 have to do with technical bugs and such, you should definately try to get one now. Most people don\'t have problems with the systems out right now, and post-poning the purchase wouldn\'t reduce the chance of getting a buggy ps2.

Get one now if you want. Otherwise wait untill march!!!

unless you really want to play SSX, TTT, and Madden 2001 I would wait till march, or when GT3 comes out...

I haven\'t had any problems with mine, and it doesn\'t seem like that many other people have had any real problems, it\'s kind of a luck of the draw right now, ya just hope you don\'t get a flawed, but even if you do...so what, just send it to sony and they will replace it no questions asked and that way you will at least know you have one for sure.

I would wait till march because all the prices on ebay are up there if you wait you will save $200-$300 and can buy more games. There will also be a bigger selection of better games.

I haven\'t had any problems with mine. The freezing that has happened is do to game code and not the machine. I had one freeze in the Summoner

but I\'ve played Timesplitters and SSX for 2x\'s as many hours and never once had a problem.

DVD works great for me.


The only reason for you to wait a coule of months is to wait for the really good games to come ut. There are alot of fun games out now, but the really killer apps are still around the corner

get it as soon as you can. im getting mine from canada, me and my friend are doing our best to get one as soon as possible.

If you\'re just worried about some of the glitches that some unlucky people have had, just try and get one now. I haven\'t had any trouble with mine and it sounds pretty much the same for everryone replyin to you. Odds are if you start looking now you\'ll find one in the New Year anyhow.

The PS2 usually is perfectly working. Although I got a little scared when the DVD tray didn\'t come out more than 20% right after I bought my PS2

However I soon fixed that ("Oooooh!")
