Here are some scans from Crysis 2, fresh from the Playstation: The Oficial Magazine, and while they are stunning on their own, Gary Steinman\'s words might just knock some of us out.The Editor-In-Chief sent a letter to the magazine fans, who were confused as to why a PC franchise was starring on their Playstation themed magazine. And here\'s the letter:“Yes, it’s a PC franchise. But when it’s widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters to ever grace the big gray box, it matters, but that’s not the only reason I put Crysis 2 on the cover. A few months back, an old friend at EA snuck in to PTOM towers and showed me top-secret footage of the game in action. It was stunning – better looking than almost anything I’ve ever seen on PS3. and here’s the best part: All the glorious wreckage, the metropolitan carnage, the dynamic lighting and the realtime destruction, was generated not on a PC, nor an Xbox, but PS3.”“Yep this baby is being built to take advantage of the massive power the PS3 offers – which is nothing to scoff at, considering Crytek’s original Crysis was almost unplayable on anything but the highest-end PCs when it was released.“Five minutes after my pal left, I began the push to be the first magazine to reveal Crysis 2’s true glory. And here we are.”Well then, here is Crysis 2\'s true glory:
Crytek has admitted that it\'s getting "slightly more performance" out of the PS3 version of Crysis 2 than the Xbox 360 edition. However, the studio\'s business development boss Carl Jones said he was confident the game would become the best-looking title "on every platform".The studio has previously revealed that it overcame problems squeezing the game\'s massive CryEngine 3 onto console. However, it went on to claim that the game\'s graphics were the best you\'d ever see on console - something CVG\'s own experience of the Xbox 360 version backed up.Our man Ryan saw just a snippet of gameplay running on PS3, and said it looked exactly the same as the 360 version. But now it appears that over the course of the title, Sony\'s system might have the edge.Jones added that Crytek had no difficulty developing for the PS3 in comparison to the 360."We haven\'t found it more difficult to develop for PS3," he told CVG sister magazine PSM3. "We\'re lucky in the fact that we\'ve come to the generation slightly later than other people - the ones who were trying to build the first technology and games were surprised at how different the PS3 was. We took our time and worked out the right way to approach it."At the moment, we\'re getting slightly more performance from PS3 compared to 360. I\'m very confident that products using CryEngine 3 are going to come out as the best looking, or at least in the top three, on every platform."
A special \'Nano\' edition of Crytek\'s upcoming multi-platform FPS sequel has been outed. The rather pricey special edition was briefly listed on Swedish online retailer Webhallen.comIt includes a nano-suit backpack with a metallic spine mimicking the nano-suite from the game, a seven inch statue of Prophet, a 176-page art book, SCAR hologram, Waffenskin SCAR camouflage, unlockable ranks and items, and a special steelbook case.According to the eagle-eyes at PlayFront.de, the Nano Edition was listed for $199, which is around £130.
