I\'ve only played 7,8,9.  First of all 8 sucked ass I couldn\'t even finish it. I hated the gameplay.  7 was absolutely amazing and it blew me away.  One thing that sticks out in my mind is the music while fighting Sephiroth as the final boss, it gave me chills up my spine.  Definately my favorite.  9 almost equally impressive as 7 but I liked the story better in 7 and Sephiroth was way cooler than Kuja.  Also I think the end boss in FF9 kinda sucked.

Right now I\'m playing Skies of Arcadia and it is an awesome game.  I hope that this may someday develop into a great series like FF but one can only hope.

Contrary to popular opinion, I thought FF8 was great. Although, 7 and 9 eclipse 8 just by a touch(IMO). I have not had the opportunity to play the others; poor me (seriously!).

Favorite Final Fantasy: Both FF 7 & 8 are great. I love FF 7\'s story, and I love FF 8\'s artistic style and characters. FF 6, from what I\'ve played, seems already a stupendous game.. but I can\'t get very far without SNes screwing up. Same deal with FF5. Maybe I oughtta just get the Anthology for the PSX. The older ones for the NES are annoying, IMO. RPG\'s from the 8bit generation just can\'t grasp my interest for some reason. Not to mention that the NES\'s color pallate makes the games almost unbearable.

Favorite RPG of all time: For console, I\'d say Phantasy Star 4. Excellent story, Excellent Characters (Aliz Rules!), Excellent artwork, Excellent game play.. the list just goes on.

Overall though, I\'d say Quest for Glory for the PC is my favorite RPG.. even if it\'s an RPG/Adventure. I loved the highly configurable character, multiple story lines depending on the class you choose, humor, The focus on improving specific stats as opposed to "Leveling up", well developed NPC personalities, Realtime battles, style, settings (Only RPG I know that has ancient African & Slovic settings), music... everything. However the feature I like the most, one that\'s rarely found in RPG\'s, is the ability to save your character off at the end of the game and then import him for use in the next game.

I would definitely have to say FF7.  Although I still think FF8 had a way cooler ending then 7.  I still can\'t see why everyone is so obsessed with how much they like FF6.  Sure it has a great story, but I like 7\'s better.  After playing the PSX FFs and then going back to the other older ones the older ones are not too much fun.  It\'s not the graphics that bother me either, I like the 2D look, it\'s the control and script.  Everything feels so limited too.  Oh and did I mention how much the control sucks?  FF7 just elimnated all of those and brought a great story with the coolest villain in a video game, ever, and one of the saddest parts in a game ever.  Music really can bring out your Emotions and the SNES FFs didn\'t do it for me.  They were great then but now that I\'ve gotten use to lots of orchestrated and high-quality music it\'s tough to go back.

Now I know I\'ll get a lot of crap for this, but does anyone else think this way too.

PS  Don\'t say that I never played the NES and SNES games befor the PSX ones because FF1 is the first one I played way back in the 80s.

why does everyone say FF8 sux?  I think it\'s great, it fits in with the rest of the games.

VII so far, VIII and IX await

AjTOO4, I\'m with you on this one. Different for me in that VII was my first, I only recently picked up the Anthology-V & VI. The plinky music is almost irritating even though I still like the familiar themes. With no nostalgia to go with it I\'m hard pressed to see how the older ones are all that much fun now days. I must be spoiled.
