Youtube Adds Support for HDR Videos
Google's Youtube is adding support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) videos, meaning that videos with higher contrast are available featuring detailed shadows and highlights with more clarity than before.
In addition, support for wide color gamut means colors are more vibrant.
Starting today, you can watch YouTube videos in HDR on supported devices, such as HDR TVs with the new Chromecast Ultra, and soon on all 2016 Samsung SUHD and UHD TVs. If you're using a device that doesn't yet support HDR, videos will still play in standard dynamic range. As more HDR devices become available, YouTube will enable streaming of the HDR version. And if you want to watch some content in HDR today, YouTube creators like MysteryGuitarMan, Jacob + Katie Schwarz, and Abandon Visuals already bring you content in HDR. Starting today, any creator can upload HDR videos to YouTube.
Youtube has worked with the DaVinci Resolve team to make uploading HDR just as simple as SDR videos to YouTube.
http://cdrinfo.com/Sections/News/Details.aspx?NewsId=49290Very cool. If only i have an hdr display, i can check out the hdr and wide color gamut videos uploaded from Jacob + Katie Schwartz and from Abandon Visuals. it seems like mysteryguitarman hasn't have his hdr videos uploaded yet.
what is cool about jacob + katie schwartz 4k video just uploaded today beside hdr & wcg (wide color gamut) is the 60 fps of it. awesome. while abandon visuals hdr video uploaded today is 8k but only recorded at 24fps.
i didn't know when youtube adds 8k video support but i think its probably the same time as they add support of hdr which is today. youtube is ahead of their time to support 8k this early. incredibly awesome.
