PS2 PROBLEM: Anyone having double vision problems?
« on: December 25, 2000, 12:04:27 AM »
Hey everyone. I am having some problems with my new PS2. I purchased it at KB Toys on November 10. Well, 2 weeks ago, I turned it on to play Tekken Tag and it then "double visioned" for about 5 seconds and then went back to normal. At first I thought it was nothing.

The double vision obviously makes 2 images appear like there is a mirror inside my TV. Also, it makes the pictures being shown distorted, kinda like the screen flashing, colors messed up, etc.

Then came last week. It now never stops it\'s "double vision". It comes on right when you turn it on. Sometimes, I could just reset it for I don\'t know how many times and it will work, but then in the middle of gameplay, it would go back to regular and switch back to double and so forth.

I never dropped it, abused it, or anything. I have only used these things on it: Old PS controller, old PS games, new PS2 games, DVD movies, and a memory card. I doubt any of these contributed to the problem.. What next?

Thanks,
serrano007

Can\'t say; I\'ve had no problems with my PS2!

Sure, check the wires, then check if the console is close to a heavy magnet, if it is, move it. I don\'t really know if the magnet does something to PS2 and if then how much but just an advice.

If it\'s only about TTT, check the disk for scratches ( there could be some even if you wouldn\'t have done anything at all ) then return the game, if it\'s the only game that acts like it.

If it\'s a problem with ALL games then I suggest you to call sony and ask them to repair your console.

But that\'s the last choice.

All the wires are correct.. I even tried the old cables from my PS1.. It still turned out the same.

No, it happens with whatever I put in. Even though I just turn it on without any disc inside, it still is double vision.

Hmm. Why would there be a large magnet near it? lol.. ;-)

I will give Sony a ring soon. I will probably be PS2-less for about a month or two if I do send it in for repairs. :(

I\'m afraid that you\'ll have to wait for the repairs too :(

I still hope and think there\'s "hope" that you\'ll accidentally repair the PS2 somehow. Is it the TV?

If it\'s an old tv it could do this, but you\'d probably be aware of it already. Still, one option nonetheless.

Post here to ease your waiting pains if you\'ll have to suffer from them!

May da Force be with ya. At least the spirit of Joyda circles around you :)

If all the wires are connect, it doesn\'t play with any TV, and your older PS works. Then your going to just have to send it in for repairs ! :(

Sorry,man.

Maybe although the wires are correctly inputed they are broken or something.Try to replace them and check again.

Yeah, I just called Sony about it...

They told me to try the old cables of my PS1, so I did, and it still didnt work.

So they said I have to send it in for repairs. :(

Oh well, at least I\'ll get it back... Hopefully unless the ship or plane it is on sinks or crashes. lol.
