PS2 skipping/lagging in games...

I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problem with their ps2. I live in norway so it\'s a PAL ps2. When i try to play the demo version of Wild Wild Racing and just before you start to race, the camera spins around the car and the fps drops considerably. But when you play everythings fine. (60fps) The same problem occurs in the first video on the ps2 demo disc (where you see the ps2 unwrapped from the blue box) In tekken tag you also see some lagg in the intro video when the bus/train (?) passes by... Even SSX has the lagging too when you preview the course before racing. Is this normal or is something wrong? It\'s been like this since i bought the ps2.

Another complaint about a faulty PS2... Sony have out done themselves on this one.

What is this PAL PS2 everyone is talking about!?!? Well anyway there is a lot of lag when I play Unreal Tournament but only with 4 players.

PAL is for contries from Europe, Australia, New Zealand etc., America and Japan run on an NTSC signal not PAL.

Its the pal version, I have a jap system with ssx thats fine. Played it on a freinds uk pal & its jerky espesialy the bit when it shows the whole course.

 xenith thats exactly right, PAL sucks but everyone still buys SSX because its cool, hopefully the developers will start to put PAL 60 in reguardless.

Could you rephrase what you mean by this. What I can assume you are saying is that you have a Japanese PS2 (NTSC/J) playing SSX on a UK PAL TV?

[FluKe], so you got a European PAL PS2, and having a problem with lagging? What kinda lagging do you mean? Is it like frame rate dropping or music sync or something? How long have you own this PS2 since you got it? And PAL PS2 seems providing their PS2s with demo disc, while US didn\'t, including me. I live in the UK and bought a US PS2 just over 2 weeks ago, so probably no signs of defects occured.... yet :crap:

PAL normaly = slow!

try taking out the disk, blowing on it, and stick it back in.  well, it works on any nintendo product.

What i meant was that the gfx skips/lagg (not the sound, so it\'s NOT a laser/disc/drive issue) It\'s like xenith said earlier, about ssx (and other games) seems jerky when viewing the whole course before a race.. But when you play, it\'s fine.. (i.e no slowdown/lagg) I guess you can sum it up as playing quake3 on an below average pc (highest settings) Maybe it\'s a PAL thing.. (but i never experienced this on my old ps1 tho\') btw it\'s not THAT much lagg, but i don\'t expect this from such an über power-console... Let\'s blame it on the programmers... (those lazy gizz;) hehe

I just wanted to make sure it\'s was\'nt a fault \'cause i want GT3 SOOO bad i have to download it when it comes out in japan and do a swap trick to play it while i wait for the pal release. (let\'s NOT support piracy;) And to do that i have to open the console wich will void warranty. (wich is 1 year here btw) ..oh and i\'ve had my console since 29.november with no other faults *hurray!*

i guess the pal version is slower than the american one.. cuz it works fine and i have heard of this befoe with pal ps2\'s
