Where was your PS2 made in?

Guys, I was wondering with all the problem on the PS2 we\'ve heard so far from DVD stopped reading to the PS2 that blew up. So in so, the quality electronic stuff are mostly judged by people (including me :p )from where it was made in. For example, 2 identical devices compared side by side, one is made in China and the other is made in Japan. If you were to choose between them, I bet you would choose the Japan made device.
Now the same with the Playstation 2, I was wondering whether all the PS2 that has been shipped were originally made in Japan, either to Japan itself, US or to Europe. So guys, no matter where you are, could you look at the back of your PS2 near the Power Input plug and check where it is made from. \'cos if it is from Japan, then why are there so many problems? Japan made is known for their quality products.
FYI I\'m living in UK, my PS2 is NTSC U/C (bought in the US), and it is Made in Japan

My ps2 was made in Japan happily enough :)

my joypad was stuffed though so there goes your theory on good stuff coming out of japan!

i had my pad replaced quickly and easily. i now have a Korean made PS2 joypad which works a hell of a lot better than my original Jap Version!
