Playstation 2. Is it good?

My friend says yes, I played it at a local store, I say that it\'s not very great.  I know this is a PS2 forum, but I was just wondering if anyone here is holding out for a Gamecube or X Box.  I\'m definately getting a GC.  But, I\'ve been a loyal Nintendo fan boy for a long time, but N64 is dead.  So, I\'m buying a PSX, with a controller, CTR, Jet Moto 2, and possibly a memory card for $50.  Talk about a good deal.

It\'s quite obvious that 99.9% of us will say it\'s great. But it\'s all about your style. I love my PS2 and i will buy a GC, but I am still skeptical about the X Box. I would say get a PS2 and then save for a GC later, but that would be hard due to the flow of great PS2 games over the horizon.

well the PS2 had a very measly start with the shortage and only a few good games.


The plus thing is...this year 2001, the doors will swing open and the true joy of the PS2 will be relived to everyone who owns one. The games we are getting this year are off the wall entertainment.

The PS2 is a good system but its potential has not been reached yet due to the lack of really good games. I suggest yoou have fun with you PSX for a while and save up to get a PS2 when the price goes down(hopefully arpund March), and of course get a GameCube. As for the X-Box I would say get that too but wait to see what games it has on the horizon.

yer man the ps2 might not seem that good now but with games like SSX and timesplitters it shows it\'s potential
plus in 2001 the ps2 will start to show you how good it really is with games like  GT3, MGS2, and the bouncer

The Xbox runs on a windows baced OS ths will be it\'s downfall i think coz you know how stable windows 95, 98, 2000, ME all are!

As for th game cube i personally think it will flop but it\'s your opinion!

As for the PSX Games... get Alien Ressurection if you like a good and atmosverig (new word ?? ) ego shooter !
It has a very good story and it gives you goosebumbs when playing it in the dark...
If you don´t know Gran Turismo 2... GET IT NOW !!!
It IS the best Racegame ever... until GT3 !
And finaly you MUST get Metal Gear Solid !!!!!!

Or simlpy buy a PS2 and get all those Games (well not Alien) sooner or later this year... IN NEXT GENERATION STYLE !

Yeah.  I was thinkin about Metal Gear Solid, Syphonfilter, WWF Smackdown 2, and Resident Evil 3 for my first batch of games.

Yes, those are good ones... but WWF I´m not sure ?! Maybe it´s because I don´t like Wresteling that much...
You should at least read the Story behind Resident Evil somewhere, otherwise you won´t get the whole thing... or you simply get 1+2 also !

The PS2 is a very good system indeed.Right now I would say the games that are currently out for it are some what disapointing but in March I suspect for some high quality AAA titles like Red Faction,Bouncer,GT3,ect.PS2 is good, but I prefere DC over it.

BTW-DON\'T GET PSX.Get a PS2 instead.You can play old PSX games on it and play DVDs(ignoring the fact that it plays PS2 games).Its the better buy than PSX,trust me.PSX is just as dead as the N64 is,the N64 still has atleast 6 good games coming out this year.

Ohh that just because I don\'t like the smell of plastic.  But the system rocks.  I suggest holding out untill March to get one.  There will be a lot more games errr actually better games out.  To each their own though.  Plus its what your expectations are, if you expect this to be the greatest thing since Bread then you prolly won\'t like it.  But that goes for any system.  Its all about having fun, if its not fun, then its not a good system.. :eyemouth:
