OH MY GOD!!XBOX IS GONNA DIE!!

I won\'t really interfere with the discussion between Yassam and SG but I\'ll say few things out.

I watched this movie called pirates of silicon valley. It tells the story of young Bill Gates; tells the story of Microsoft. The movie maybe consentrates even more on Steve Jobs and Apple, but just because Microsoft sneaked inside apple very silently.

The thing is that Bill Gates and co. started out of nothing. They had NOTHING. I\'m not kissing Bill\'s arse here but I gotta agree that the man is pure business genious. Did you know that he bought Dos from unknown programmer for just 50 000 dollars? Without that deal he wouldn\'t be the richest man in the world. He stole, sneaked, stole more; worked secretly and eventually backstabbed Apple.

The whole point of this is that Bill Gates knows every possible tactic in business. Microsoft rose from nothing. Now it\'s time for X-box. Really; I\'m betting that it will be the biggest competitor for Sony definetely.

Microsoft knows when to release the console. Microsoft knows how to cash people. You must beware their money-traps.

X-BOX WILL BE GREAT WITH OUT DVD PLAYBACK TRUST ME.
IT WILL BE CHEAPER THAN PS2

this will only make the war bigger. microsoft has decided to be smart and make money off  of people who want dvd, while still making money off of the games.
the bad thing about the launch in japan, was that the games didnt sell for the ps2, the dvd did.
so microsoft has been smart, making money off of all of the people who will buy the system for dvd, sony did not.
this may harm their stance as a system, but it wont be a big one at all. i think that if the price of their system is $399 or $499 they will have trouble selling their system.

oh yes this does not mean by any means that x box will be cheaper than ps2,  its not like they are installing new hardware into the system. its all there.
i bet the system retails for $399, and that will hurt its chances greatly.

If on some small chance the console did launch at the $400-$500 dollar price tag, the XBox would be dead soon as it hit the market. It wouldn\'t start selling units, until after a massive price drop and then it would be to late for MS.

MS knows this. Which is in my opinion, why they are going to charge for extra stuff. Like the remote. They can get some more money, without saying its the hardware price. People don\'t mind this (most don\'t). They\'ll figure its a "must have" (which it is, if you want DVD playback on the thing). And they\'ll pay for it.

I figure the console will launch at a $300 price tag, just as the PS2. That is the magic price right now. You can charge that and people won\'t *****. Go over that and people get upset.

The whole point, that I was making is. MS fans shouldn\'t have to pay for a function built in the system. They should have the option to use the standard controller to use the DVD functions.

I don\'t agree with you on this, if this is seen as a rip off then I believe Sony not including four controller ports for the PS2 is also a rip. Heck all next generation videogame systems have 4 controller ports except the PS2. WHY??? Because Sony wants you to buy the controller port addon. This to me is a rip-off

It was mentioned earlier that the X Box comes with built-in DVD capability and to activate it you\'ll need to buy a remote control. Is the price of the X Box already including the DVD capability expenses or they left it out assuming people would buy the remote to cover the price? Well, what if most of them decide not to buy the remote? (Well, can\'t blame that, heard somewhere that Sony\'s already losing $180 for every PS2 sold to meet price target hoping lost expenses will be covered from game licensing).

I\'m pretty sure xbox won\'t make it.Don\'t ask me why.
