UK PS2 copies DVD\'S to VHS Video!!!
« on: January 06, 2001, 09:51:51 AM »
I did an experiment to see if I could copy a DVD using the composite lead that came with my PS2. The result was a perfect copy of Gladiator.Has anyone else managed to do this.

I haven\'t tired, i just got my first DVD the other day actually, although i had rented two.

Im glad it works, but the way sony stops us UK peeps from using RGB cable for copy protection reasons is tight, esp since the other countries don\'t get this.

I have a 30-hour Sony TiVO digital recorder that bypasses the Macrovision protection and allows you to copy DVD video to VHS.  Pretty nifty; Sony eventually found out about this and fixed the "glitch" on the next revision of this unit.  I guess I\'m one of the lucky ones :)

So you didn\'t use the composite to scart converter? And you manage to copy the gladiator DVD? Heey.. that\'s really cool! I wish I could get a hold of a region 1 or all region DVD in London. I live in London and got a US PS2, so getting a US game would be more expensive than UK\'s and now I can\'t find at least an all region DVD.
So Kurt, gonna start renting DVDs and copy\'em to VHS? Well, of course, for personal use :p

I have only tried it with Gladiator as I don\'t own any other DVD\'s yet. It should work in theory though.
