According to the numbers, the PS2 was the top selling non-portable console with a total of 50,550 units sold during the week for $15,130,490 in revenue. The second best selling console? Well, it\'s definitely not the Dreamcast or Nintendo 64. Sony\'s other system, the PS one, sold 50,155 units during the week, only 395 units less than PS2, for an overall value of $4,991,216.
The Nintendo 64 came in third with only 16,391 systems sold, of which 11,479 were of the Atomic Purple variety, and the Dreamcast followed this with a 14,133-unit sell through. Oh, and for the diehard 16-bit fans, the Sega Genesis sold a whopping 47 units during the week, while the Super NES didn\'t sell a single one.

For handheld fans, the Nintendo of America sold a total of 51,735 Game Boy Colors during the week and SNK found eight people out there willing to buy its system.

for only one week 50,000 consoles or more are very very fine. In one month sony can sell 200,000 consoles. Great news. I agree.

Dose anyone have the TOTAL PS2 sales ,  since it cam ont this world ?

i know that last year Dreamcast sold 2.6 million world wide with in 1 year.

I think there are about 8,000,000 PS2´s since it was be launched... perhaps for fall March reachs 9,000,000

so i think it is safe to say that the PS2 is on it\'s way to reaching the 26 million milestone, the reason for this is that that as the amountof PSX\'s that where sold before the Japaness launch of the PS2.

one month ago there were 7 millions (thanks ooseven) PS2´s in the world, so now must there are about 8 millions.

yup the future looks bright at the moment .

But Sony has to deliver at least 10 million units more until the x-box and the GC comes, with 20 million consoles on the market when the X-box and the Gc comes, things would be really nice.

yeah, this is very important for Sony. 18-20 millions consoles is a great advantage for win in this 128 generation consoles war.

Correction Sony has to sell about 17 to 18 million PS2 before the X box comes out in Europe (last place to get it).
that way it has a good fan base before the X Box has its full world wide coverage.

but in saying that it\'s not a the end of the world for sony if they don\'t make this target, they have shown in the past that they always fight harder when they are the under dog\'s.
