WHY DID DC GO DOWN?  BECAUSE SEGA COULDN\'T SURVIVE TO LOSE ANY MORE MONEY!  They were in debt, the games were selling and making profit but not enough.  Sega is way too deep in debt.  

DOES NINTENDO HAVE MONEY?  ****LOADS!  CAN IT STAND A LOSS FOR A WHILE? YES.  As the GC is more mass produced, it will become cheaper to make.  Eventually equalling that nice little price tag of 150$.  Then it\'s all profit.

But, once again, I\'m not saying it will be 150.  Just don\'t rule it out.

plus you can\'t blame that for the "high" price of PS2, it due to the fact if they did release it at a low price they would face the same problems as explained above.

All companyes make a loss on there system to start of with  it takes a long time to get established.

Sony do more than make consoles you know, plus they havethe PSone and Playstation sales to help, plus the PS2 is Still Selling

ill think you will find they will be able to MAKE it for around $150 to $200

AND SELL IT FOR $300 to £350 at launch day.

name calling, you must be on your last breath.  IBM already has the factories built, they are already producing the chip in mass bulk.  The PS2 needed new factories to build it\'s chip, thus consuming time and more money.  I think the total for the factories was around 800 million. Yeah, that didn\'t have a price effect.

Yeah, and Nintendo doesn\'t have the extras in there.  Thus cutting down the cost.  Why do you think they opted not to throw in a DVD drive? I\'ll give you a hint: it has something to do with the cost.

They released as low as possible.  It\'s still not turning profit yet.  The hardware is still at a loss, the software will eventually make up for that loss.

Exactly what I said earlier.  Now why can\'t Nintendo do it.  Look at what you get for 300 Dollars.  A PS2, DVD movie player, PSX player, CD player.  Now take all that out except the PS2 and what would expect to pay for it.( A Basic gaming only machine)

Nintendo still has the 64, Gameboy, and soon to be best selling GBA.  Nintendo has money.

I think the DC was sold at a 70 dollar loss, or something like that.  Now I know that the PS2 is being sold at an 80 dollar loss.  Why did they do this, they looked to the future and saw that eventually it will turn profit.  Sega didn\'t have the money to keep selling the hardware at a loss, and the software wasn\'t selling enough to keep afloat.  The PS2 came out, Sega had no choice but to drop price to hopefully get into more homes, to sell more software and eventually turn profit.  Sega was just in a bad place.

It WILL NOT BE 300 dollars on launch day. I give you my word it will not.  Why would it be, what extras does it have that could sell at that price?  It is just a game machine.
