GameCube Set for Early LaunchNintendo Japan confirms that its next-generation GameCube console will launch in the US early.March 7, 2001Nintendo Japan\'s executive vice president Atsuo Asada told Reuters on Wednesday that the GameCube console will launch in Japan this July, with an earlier than expected debut of September 2001 in the US. A spring 2002 release is planned in Europe. The next-generation platform was previously set for an October launch in the States and the fact that Asada has not only confirmed that a 2001 debut is still on track, but also bumped up the release by one month is further proof that GameCube will not be delayed. The console will see a full unveiling at May\'s Electronics Entertainment Expo, and Nintendo plans to market the machine alongside its own super-handheld the Game Boy Advance later this year. The GBA is expected to have 60 titles available by the holiday season. For more on the device, click here.
