Well maybe not officially but I think it will. I posted this at NintendoNation so don\'t be offended by the cheap shots at other consoles.
A lot of you are probably wondering which platform the Shenmue series will go to. I think GameCube would be the most logical choice.
All of this just popped into my mind about ten minutes ago while i was playing Shenmue so forgive my horrible lack of effort to sound intelligent.
Ok, we all should know that Shenmue 3 will not go to DC IF Shenmue 2 has poor sales on the DC. So that leaves Xbox, PS2, and GameCube.
Will the Xbox get it? Holy ****ing ***** **** no. The Xbox is surely to be a failure in Japan so why would Sega make it for Xbox when they know beforehand that it wouldn\'t have high sales numbers in Japan? What ever isn\'t made in Japan doesn\'t work in Japan( an old Japanese saying).
*Straches ****-box off the list*
Now the fight for this masterpiece is between PS2 and GameCube. Sony will gave a large number of people who own PS2 but that won\'t be enough. There system is hard to develop for and costs a lot of money to make games for so I think Sega would be wise enough to develop this game for GameCube instead.
Lets see, this game pushes rougly around 3-5 mpps and has amazing textures. I think you would all agree that the textures make the game stand out more since there are barely any jaggies in it and we all know what system specializes in textures...(hint, it\'s not the N64)
Now if they develop the game for NGC then they could get TWICE as many more polygons and around 4-8 times better textures! Making it extremely realistic looking! (thats the main reason why they would make Shenmue for NGC IMO. PS2 just isn\'t as powerfull as GameCube, and Sega wants these games to look as realistic as possible).
There are other reason of course- the controller is perfect. The QTAs would be so ****ing simple since they have the exact same letters on the controller and NGC\'s button lay-out is pretty basic. There\'s a button to the right, left, and above the big A button. That\'s all there is to it.
Plus, GameCube is supposingly extremely easy to develop for. The disk space won\'t be a problem either.
In conclusion, I think Shenmue 3 has the best chance of appearing on GameCube. I could be wrong, but I doubt it! *Opinions wanted*.
