This summer in japan Playstation 2 NEW internet game softwar system?

Sony is planing to introduce a new internet game software system for the playstation 2 games in japan this summer, to prevent illegal copy of the software and resale of used games. CD-Rom or DVD-Rom games can be copied onto the hard drive to speed up the acces time, and in the future, users can also download ps2 software from the internet.  A special mechanism will be used to protect the games from illegal copy and resell.


What about the U.S.A?

most people cant afford to pay 50$ for games.  i rarely buy games new.  i like paying 20$ for games at the cd wherehouse that are a week old.  i just picked up skies of arcadia and ridge racer 5 today.  let some other dope pay full price, beat the game in 3 days, and dispose of it

You have to take that To prevent copy protection with a grain of salt.  I was told by a guy on SONY\'s 1-800 # that gold-backed DVDs have trouble playing b/c of copy protection.

Later another guy from Sony\'s California team told me that was a lie.

legally in the US I don\'t think they can stop the resale of used games

If you own it its your right to sell it.

I don\'t see them doing this,

but copied games and the original will be targeted
