to there are ways to give the illusion of AA,without having to take cuts in performance, and some developers are are taking advantage of themhowever ,until SOny comes up with a specific and easy ways to implement true AA that dosent take major hits on performance, you probably wont be seeing a huge number of games take advantage of it.

Why do I have a bad feeling about this game... it might be pretty and all...

In an interview, some Square rep said something like : "FFX will be as great a leap forward as when the series moved to the PlayStation from Super Nintendo". So, according to him, we\'ll be getting pretty much a graphic update.

I hope the new battle director works something new and inventive out.

And the main characters look horrible, reminding me of FFVIII, yuck. "We wanted to make Yuna a lot like Rinoa because we liked her innocence and stuff, blabla", oh screw that. Those human-like characters killed FFVIII...

Its the story that ruined FVIII.Actually the lack of an ultimate bad guy.

Whats wrong with the FF8 characters?

Personally I wouldnt like to have cute cartoony style characters like FF9 or the superdeformed ones of FF7.The game looks more realistic and mature with real humans IMO.

Yes it was the story that ruined FFVIII. The story was made really stupid so it would fit in with the idiotic humanlike losers. It sucked in so many new and different ways. Squall was really a bad Cloud-imitator, a loser, in a word. Rinoa... ugh "Uuuu, Seify\'s nice, I like Seify, no, wait, he\'s gone bad, uuuh, I like Squall, oh he\'s so handsome, uuu *blinky*" Ack!

And the others were there just to fill some empty space...

The only proper character in FFVIII was the malicious transvestite-sorceress (hmm... I think I\'m joking here), Adel. And boy was she/he an idiot too. And Eyes on me... well now we know that the big U can do mushy love songs too, let\'s just hope that\'s the last one we ever hear.

The only really good thing in FFVIII was Liberi Fatali. One of the best Final Fantasy tunes ever.

Rant rant rant...

The FF games are not supposed to look mature or real or anything. They\'re about fantasy (I think it\'s somewhere in the series\' name too...). FFIX was great in the way it presented a real fantasy world, littered with dozens of totally different "people". I want something totally different when stepping into a fantasy world, not some stupid teenagers going through puberty.

Rant rant rant... I can\'t believe I\'ve got nothing better to do :p

Hawke has said it all.

Too bad Eyes on me wasn\'t the last of its kind; just listen to the ever-slushy Melodies of Life!

Rinoa was far from innocent - she has no feelings whatsoever! She couldn\'t care less bout what happened to Seifer. The "great love story" between Rinoa & Squall was only a teenage crush, she obviously liked him only because of his great looks. (well who wouldn\'t, hehe..) She set a trap for Squall, who hated her in the beginning. She didn\'t even care for the universe, all she wanted was for Squall to fall for her. She was dumb, weak & mean. That is all I have to say about Rinoa for the time being.

Those screens do look amazing. Nice and colorful.

Well I liked FF8\'s characters because their strong times
and their weak times reminded me a lot of well...some of my friends:D.Nobody is perfect in the game. And I think that\'s what made the characters feelings and emotions stronger.
Instead of having characters that always look and act cool or generally remain the same we have each character\'s strenghts and weaknesses according to the occasions:).

Rinoa she was indeed very silly at times:).

He was the meanest bad guy and they ve made him/her:D look so....sheman.HEHEH fortunately he/she wasnt appearing in the game for long.

You are right.FF shouldnt be realistc. But I dont think human like characters reduce the fantasy world of the game.
hehe the FF8 characters were sometimes stupid:).Teenagers going through puberty.Exactly:D
But hey we still havent seen much from FFX\'s characters.
Yuna sounds more closed to her self than the  sometimes overreacting Rinoa.
Aeris had a lot of innocence too.It depends how they make the characters express their feelings.

Personally I liked FF8\'s other tunes too.

You kinda right about FF8:).

I guess all you guys must be dreading the forthcoming MOVIE .Final Fntasy Spirits within.
I mean all those lifelike charachters in A final fantasy related Film it just wont be the same!
I Loved FF7 and I liked the change of Direction for FF8 ive only completed Disc1 on FF9 its a tad Slow story Wise and i havent had a lot of time to get down to some serious gaming sessions with it to get into it further. (excuse my lack of conformity by not using numerals)
But i believe fresh ideas and concepts should always be experienced as Square are allowing with there continued evolvement of Fantasy, and i for one am looking forward to the new direction for 10 and 11, and the cinematic experience coming our way this Summer.

Just how far could square push the same tried and tested format of old, time after time with out new concepts, certainley not as far As 10.
I mean just look at Alien resurection compared to Alien the1st movie to see how dull and boring things can becoming without change, even with all the technical advances in CGI, and bigger budgets the movie world could not better the first story, for entertainment value.
And this has also been the case in many other gaming Franchises.
New Fresh concepts on older themes which push new boundries and take different directions always work better than non inspiring rehashes of whats been done before.

Blah Blah Blah
What do I Now since I Only joined AT FF7?
Only that I have Enjoyed 7,8 and 9 (or part of so far), Each having been Different And enjoyable in their own Way.

PS Where were the Sixteen Year olds Like Rinoah When I was A teen?

The game has plenty of innovation for FF

a full 3D map for one thing

you can control your summons as an extra character in battle

and naturally eye candy

I\'m sure there will be other cool innovative things stuck in FF X  we\'ll just have to wait and read more

IMO FFX is meeting expectations so far

actually, these pics are capture in high quality, but for some reason the picture turn out like that.  first, it was shot at the tv screen.  either the games run in interlace or square tried to put motion blur on the games (you know like watching a movie in theater).  But i think it gotta be motion blur.  When it runs in fast motion, you see these frames shown on screen at once.  Anyway, does anybody knows if this game run at 60fps progressively or interlaced?  And does this game support widescreen format like gt3 without you know streching 4:3 to get 16:9 but in a real 16:9( format)?
