Sony Computer Europe is boosting PS2 publishers
« on: April 12, 2001, 06:33:08 AM »
- PS2 sales in Europe are 3 times higher than PSone during its launch. According to forecast, there should
be 5 millions PS2 in Europe (and 25% for UK, 00seven !!!!!!)

- SCEE is going to spend nealy 200 millions of Euros for marketing in Europe, trying to help publishers
by advertising and so on

- Development kits are going to be lower in price

- Sony is going to introduce a new software that will make it easier to developp for PS2

All this....means Sony really want publisher\'s support, and is willing to make efforts towards them....

Which means we\'ll get even more good games !!!! And, perhaps, we\'ll get them FASTER !

Thats cool

This seems more like the old sony, helping developers out, this is all good news, but the best part is the news about making it easier to develop for the ps2.
Also hopefully they will start taking us people in europe serious.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

Great news indeed - thanks Julien!

That is great - Ps2 has sold very well. Whoa, over 5 million PS2\'s on europe? That\'s the amount of people living here in Finland! :D

And if you compare it - it\'s quite amazing.

I think at the beginning of thier launch and beforehand, Sony was riding this Superior High horse, and the complete disaster that they made out of a potentially great launch humbled them, and now they are back to normal.
They almost became as complacent as Nintendo did.

Well SOny had its hands tied with the launch and just getting everything in order, now SOny is ahead on production they are now able to move resources over to helping developers

but to be honest these new tools or software just wasn\'t ready till now so of course Sony would have issued these upgrades if they had the chance but debugging and finalizing it just takes time.

Sony has always been recruiting developers for exclusive content and such, this news is not new, just more of a reminder that SOny is agressivel  bringing new content to its machine and backing the best
