ddaryl,
that wasn\'t Buffalo\'s best trade with Chigago, no that would be Hasek for Stephane Beauregard and a fourth rounder ROFL LMAO!!!! (Even if that 4th rounder turned out to be Eric Daze)

ps2gamer_59,
Don\'t be ashamed, that\'s what being a true fan is all about - staying true to your team through the bad times will make the good times so much more sweeter. At least you can still laugh at Chris \'I\'m leaving to win a Cup\' Chelios.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

**** i forgot about that one ( how could i) Chicago sure has been generous to the Sabres.  Yes eric Daze is good but he is no  where near the Vallue of having a good golie( Hasek at that!!)

Hehe it does feel good to laugh at Chelios because of his loss but he was my favourite player so i\'ll go easy on  him.

Dolbytone,
I fully agree with you on Kovalev - he\'s the man.

As for the Red Wings, did they win two cups back to back? I can\'t remember.

Anyway, I think the Red Wing\'s biggest problem is the team - too old, not enough depth, and the fact that their aging defensive corps cannot hide the fact that Chris Osgood is, and always will be, mediocre at best.

They were missing two of their three best players in Yzerman and Shanahan (the third being Lidstrom), and they flopped against LA. Fedorov is a flake - he\'s so inconsistent, and beyond Stevie Y and Shanny who else do they have? Chelios is an old man, so\'s Larry Murphy, and in terms of scoring they have such mediocre players - Lapointe, Holmstrom, Draper, Kozlov - that\'s not premier depth.

Look at Colorado or Dallas, remove Forsberg and Sakic from the Avs and you still have Dury, Hedjuk, Borque, Blake, Tanguay etc. Same thing if you remove two of the top players from any of the teams left in the playoffs (except for Toronto) and you\'d still have a great team.

Perhaps Scotty should shoulder some of the blame they didn\'t put up more of a fight in the last two games of the series against LA, but with Shanahan and Yzerman out this RedWings team doesn\'t have much left in the tank. Even with those two fit, they\'d still be crushed by Dallas, Colorado and perhaps even St. Louis (who have great depth, but like Detroit, no premier goaltender).

Just my opinion though. :) I think they\'ll splash the cash this summer on some free-agents.

I disagree, I think scotty is a fine coach.  Detroit as a team is just so old and slow sometimes in the playoffs experience isn\'t all u need speed is a big factor.

Lots of people thought that dallas would sweep the oilers but because of Dallas\' average age of almost 30 the oilers speed made them have to work for it ( all of the games were decided by one goal)

Maybe they did win two in a row... yup, in \'97 and \'98.  Scotty\'s won 8 Stanley Cups, 5 with the Montreal Canadiens, 1 with the Pens and 2 with the Wings.  Also, he\'s lost in the finals 4 times, once with the Wings (\'95)and 3 times with St. Louis (\'68-\'70) making his total trips to the big show a whopping 12.  14 seems to be the most any coach has gone, a title held by **** Irvin who went SEVEN times with the Habs (3 wins) and six times with the Leafs (0 wins).

There\'s another coach with 8 cups.  Hector Blake, who won all of his cups with Montreal including a five year run from \'56 to \'60, went to the show a total of 9 times (88.89% win ratio!).  I\'d say this guy is the winningest coach in Stanley Cup playoff history, though I believe Bowman has the most wins total since he\'s gone more times.

Anyway, Bowman\'s been coaching since at least the late \'60s and I think it\'s time for his old ass to retire!  We\'ll see what he does.  I\'ll bet he either does retire, or finds another team to coach.  Either way, I think the Wings will be better off without him.

Also, you mentioned Fedorov being a spotty player... did you notice that all of the players like him that were drafted around the same time, all excellent players are spotty as well?  Selanne and Bure come to mind.
