Apparantly, after speaking with my local importers, the person that works there certainly knows his stuff.
Now he just told me that apparantly GT3 in UK could be pushed back to Aug/Sept. Bad news i know but what he
followed up with really interested me. Apparantly these stores have been informed that once GT3 is released
then the price of the PS2 will fall to £230. This is pure speculation but if it happens then you know where you
heard it from ok. Blimey, sony ready to drop prices within 3 months. We will see....

no it cant be put back again. they will be putting down as this is one f the games people have been buying a ps2 for, this just gives them a better insentive to buy one, sony are very brainy at advertising, they must get a big foot hold to beat the x-box and game cubed, just like the ps1, faster stronger machines came out, but sony had such a strong foot hold on the market the rest had now chance

very good point mate. i work in a computer shop and we had the guy from sony in 2 day with gran turismo 3 , formula 1 2001 and the force feedback wheel (all uk) and he says the release date will DEFINATLY not slip as they now have sold sufficient ammount of consoles to warrant a release.

oh yeah f1 2001 played really good and look fantastic imitial impressions = 8/10

gt 3 = 8.5/10 based on a 10 min play

I really doubt there will be a price drop.  I read somewhere a couple days ago (I think at http://www.fgnonline.com/ ) that Sony is finally making profit.  They said that Sony does not want to lower the price because they are finally making profit and want to keep it that way.

News is begining to surface...... Could i have been right?

PlayStation 2 Price Cut?

As expected, Sony delivered financial results to shareholders today, earmarked with a first quarter 15.7 billion yen ($127 million) profit. For the quarter, electronic sales totaled 1.4 trillion yen ($11 billion), up 22 percent from 1.2 trillion yen ($10 billion) a year ago. Sony largely attributes the increased sales to cellphones in Japan, and their line of VAIO PCs in America.

Not all the news was rosy however, particularly in the gaming sector. The troubled launch of the PlayStation 2 brought tremendous financial losses for Sony last year. Furthermore, while Sony hopes to bring their gaming sector back to profitability this year, executives warned of a possible price cut. Specifically, Sony\'s vice president told shareholders today that a PlayStation 2 price cut is being considered to remain competitive against Microsoft\'s Xbox and Nintendo\'s GameCube, both of which are scheduled for release this fall.
