Is Sky Odyessy Slow?
« on: May 11, 2001, 05:02:04 AM »
I was thinking about getting this game but I played the first level in the shop and it seemed a bit slow. It seemed to take ages to get anywhere. I\'d just be flying straight for ages.

Is the whole game like this or does it speed up?

For the most part it\'s the same (speed wise), BUT, in the later levels you are constantly dodging cliffs and all other manner of obstacles, so the speed becomes a non-issue. Many times you will find yourself throttling BACK because the turns and manuvering is tight, while the cliff wall comes perilously close to making the ****pit your casket:)

edit: HAHAHAHA they censored C.O.C.K.pit...hehehehe

Thanks mate. I probably will get it. Nothing else I really want at the moment, apart from Kengo, but I\'m having my doubts about that one now

Sky Odyssey is decent. In the shop it will have felt slow as you will have been expecting action. You really need to sit down at home with the game to apprechate it.

I just didn\'t like it when you died on a mission a few times and had to start right back at the beginning to get there, although without that it would be too easy.

As for it being slow, thats pretty much incorrect. Once you get into the air with throttle at full you can accumilate quite a bit of speed, and like Cygnus XI said you need to slow down quite a bit. :)

Don\'t touch Kengo, its poor. Get Sky Odyssey you won\'t be sorry.

I would say a definite rental.  I guarantee you that you will not pick up that game after 5 days.  It\'s not bad, just not something you would play all that much.  Heck, you could rent it for a whole month and still not pay 50 bucks for it.

I have to disagree with that comment. This is just my opinion but the missions are really fun. Some people on this board play games over and over just for one little ending well with this you get loads more, it has good replayability. Since there is nothing else like this on the PS2 at the moment you will want to play it from time to time anyway.

I enjoyed the game.  Still play it.  Agree that "speed" is relative along the cliffs/canyons.  Now, although not solicited...If it were me at this point I might, however, consider waiting for Ace Combat 4... ;)  Perhaps AC4 has a "GT3 shelflife" as far as when it will finally stop being tweaked and start being played by the masses...but if you like flight games, I can\'t think of anything I\'ve enjoyed better (on console) that the Ace Combat series...  To that end, especially Electrosphere...I mean, that was the PSX pushing those polys around!!!  Jeez!!!  What a great game!
