Blood Omen 2: be afraid, be very afraid

The sinister and evil Kain swoops onto PS2 having already damned the lives of PSone owners everywhere, but has the world had its fill of vampire games?

According to the press release, Kain is “the most evil figure to grace a videogame console.” With the obvious exception of Rayman, this may indeed be true. You see, he’s already cursed the world once, spreading misery and pestilence across all corners of the globe to fuel his unquenchable lust for power. He still hasn’t married Billie Piper though, so there’s definitely room for some egregious improvement.
Blood Omen 2 is set 400 years after the original and Kain begins the game ominously stripped of his demonic powers and faced with the revelation that some other swine has robbed him of his rule. Taking the form of a third-person action adventure, you must use all of your undead skill to fight your way through the demon hordes and recover your power. Eidos promises a wealth of attacking options, plus stealthier modes of attack including mind-control and cloaking abilities. Unfortunately, despite claims of it containing “the most beautiful PS2 graphics seen to date,” such delusions of grandeur fail to disguise what is a rather ropey adventure at present. Here are the latest screens so you can judge for yourselves.

Kain Rules!!!!

That Soul Reaver guy.....?!?! What....Were they on acid or something;)

This looks promising. The original LoK:BO was excellent, and the jump to next-gen along with 3D is looking sweet:)

Those pictures are astounding!!! The graphics look equal to Xbox..... Because I looked at the building walls of a Xbox game and was amazed at how much detail was in the walls....... now I look at these walls and they actually look just as good.. or maybe better! :D
.... take the skin and peel and back...

now doesn\'t it make you feel better?

Geez... They actually put a lot effort into more than one game in the graphics department over at Eidos, not that it matters that much... :D

Sweet \'nanners this game looks great.  Another one to be excited about, fer sher.

As far as the textures go, yer right.  PS2 is becoming more and more impressive.

This one looks good.

This is definitely a looker but for some reason I am just not to excited about it. I even like soul reaver on dreamcast but i personally think rayman would kick kains ass. I mean come on people he doesnt even have a body to swing at and he can throw his fist like 200 mph at people 90 yards away.
kain stabs at rayman "argh your a nasty little man with no body"
rayman jumps back, makes some cutesy french sounds and hurls his glowing fist at 200 mph instantly decapitating kain
Now I hope everybody sees my logic and agrees with me on this one, its just silly to think that kain could actually take rayman in a fight.
i think kain vs. globox would be more fair

No way, man.  I played the original Blood Omen (a lot) way back in the day and I\'ve seen what the man, well not really a man per se, is capable of.  Kain would own Rayman, Rayman would literally just be a spot on the ground when it\'s all said and done...  :{>

I still Can\'t decide if Blood omen or Soul Reaver 2 will be greater........

Ah what the Hell ill just buy them both, i have to say i have completed and highly enjoyed Soul Reaver on the PSX  , and have played Blood omen on the PC.

It will be nice to see that the full game play for Blood omen 2 will be like/ looks like a cross between Metal Gear and Soul Reaver to me .......GREAT :D.

And to think when i was a young spy guy i couldn\'t stand the sight of blood.....
