Find out about the new character and AM2\'s decision to support PS2.
May 24, 2001
Yu Suzuki knows how to tease. The head of AM2 revealed at E3 that his team would be able to bring Virtua Fighter 4 to the PS2 without a loss of detail or quality. If this means that VF4 is going to mirror its arcade counterpart, the PS2 is going to have one of the best looking games ever later this year.
So why exactly did AM2 chose the PS2 as the recipient of its crown title? Apparently, GT3 had something to do with it. Suzuki seems to be very impressed by the Polyphony racer as a showpiece for the PS2 system and was anxious to unlock the PS2\'s potential for himself. However, Suzuki admits that working with the PS2 system is a bit different from working with the Dreamcast, forcing AM2 to think how to best use the system.
In addition to this bit of info, AM2 has also revealed the second new character to be featured in the game. Her name is Vanessa Lewis, and she\'s joined the tournament (yes, once again, there is a "tournament") in order to avenge her father\'s death. It\'s unclear if one of the other Virtua Fighters is actually to blame for the death, or if Vanessa\'s joining the tournament is just a metaphor for her finding her true self. Whatever the case, Vanessa uses a form of Muay Thai as her fighting style.
We\'ll have more on VF4 in the near future. Get ready for Virtua Fighter mania later in the year!
