Atari Lynx, before GBA the best handheld (and with color). But it was a flop, too.

Atari! Bar none!  Released in the 70\'s Atari was the first home console and it was accepted by the public while bringing video games to the forefront of entertainment.

Oh you know that term "Pack-in Game"...that comes from Atari!  They packed in the tank game called "Combat" and it was later named to something else.  Nintendo saw the success of Atari\'s stategy and also packed in a game the rest is history!

Ever hear of the "joystick"? Again it was Atari that brought this to the home market!

Oh yeah you guys know what a "Game Cartridge" is?  Atari are also responsible for bringing this gaming medium into the mainstream market.

sorry bout that SonyFan.

ProfessorX - youre stuff is completely flawed!

Oddyssey was the first console that brought games home.

Many systems before Nintendo offered a pack in. Intellivision, Colecovision, etc. and Atari only offered Combat with the system after Intellivision was released in 79 and included Blackjack and Poker.

Joysticks were used in the systems predating 2600.

No, not even close to the most innovative when you consider the even shorter lived Sega VR. That was a REAL VR helmet with motion sensors to detect head movement (and adjust the picture accordingly) and stereoscopic(? Where the sound can appear to come from any of the 360 digrees) sound. The Virtua Boy was to VR what the View-Master was to 3D.
