Will the cases stay around this time?
« on: June 19, 2001, 11:37:29 AM »
I remember when the PSX came out they were in big cases like the PS2 has now, in fact my copy of Resident Evil is still in a case like that.  After just a short while the changed to just using the cases they use now for the PSX.  Ones just the size of the CDs themselves.

So, will the PS2 change back to that?  What do you think?

I personally think they\'ll keep the big cases this time around.  Just because they kinda have the DVD feel to it when you do.  I also think they look cooler.

Please put what you think...

They want the DVD look.  Plus they can get a lot more info on the box.

The PSX big cases were not standardized.  The CD cases is what was being used back then, so Sony switched to them.  Now, DVD cases are being used a lot, so there is no reason to change.

I dont know if you can call the old PSX cases, "cases"  They to me were rather like boxes.  There were made out of cheap paper and could tear and all.  These DVD cases are better and give the PS2 games a better look.  I wonder what the GC cases will look like taking it that there games are little mini disks.

Lol w1ngman I remember god that was horrible. Just like the jewel cases.. the broke so easily. Jewel cases are the worst things for games ever the game can get broken inside so easily. Please Sony stick with the DVD case more than 100% better than jewel cases.

The Sega Saturn cases were **** aswell I reckon, mainly because they seemed to fall off there crappy mountings inside so you\'d open them up and more often than not the disc would fall out onto the floor.... class eh!

they were made to be the same size as dvds because they all had to fit in the same stand since one of the main attractions of ps2 was to have the dvd player
