You guys shouldnt probably use all the short names for them like TTT or TMB. He probably doesnt know what they mean cause he has been using a pc all this time. And most of you guys have said games that arent even out yet.

I\'d say you would have to get Final Fantasy 7 for the PS1 cause it\'s the best game and RPG ever. If you like that then get 8 and 9 too.
You should try Soul Reaver too. And Tenchu.

For the PS2, try Extermination, it\'s no where near perfect but it\'s a hella alot of fun.
I know you dont want sports games but SSX is an awesome snowbording game. I loved it and I dont even like snowboarding.
And I\'m sure everyone would recommend Twisted Metal Black (TMB). I havent played it yet, but everyone that has seems to love it. It\'s car combat.
Hope this helps

thanks for all the quick responses, esp. ElAsesino for typing in so many titles.

i ordered my ps2 today and got some games:
FF7
grandia
vagrant story
res.evil 2
einhander
strider 2
metal gear solid
wipeout xl
ape escape

being a latecomer is paying off; i\'m averaging $20/game.
by the time i work my way thru PS1 games the PS2 games should be cheaper too.

some ebay listings have original games and "greatest hits" versions.  how are the "greatest hits" versions different, if at all?

sorry for what must be somewhat tedious newbie questions

I\'m not going there!!!  Anyways, r1biohzd welcome to the forum.   Games for PSone to me is Metal Gear Solid, Soul Reaver, Crash 3, Driver to many to list.  PS2 games would be Metal Gear Solid 2, Starwars StarFighter.  It\'s hard to pick for you because you don\'t like racing, sports, fighters etc.  :D

Hi welcome to the forums.

I would personally wait, esp if your from europe. The PS2 currently doesn\'t offer anything incredible, meaning theres no need to purchase straight away and you could wait to see what the other players in the console scene have up their sleeve.

If you have already decided on getting a PS2 then it ain\'t a bad choice. The following games are worth getting.

PSX Wise

Tony Hawks 1 / 2
Any Resident Evil game
Silent Hill
Wipeout 3 Special Edition
Final Fantasy 6

PS2 wise

Red Faction
Onimusha
NBA Street

if i remember correctly the greatest hits versions are marked down a little.

good choices, and if you live in the us, and have an extra 60$, you must pick up Gran Turismo 3
on july 11th it will hit stores, and if you can reserve it.

but thats if you love a racing game, um, the best driving simulator of all time.
IM BACK. you have a problem with that? get in the back.

i personally can\'t answer your question,it seems you\'ll have your time filled alone learning to use a gamepad on the PS2,let alone playing games with it after being a diehard pc gamer. future games should let us be able to impliment a keyboard / mouse configuration, but when it becomes programmed in normally with all developers remains up in the air. all the games that interest you i do not have,as i have only action / driving / sports games. the only PS2 shooter i know of is Silent Scope. the only shooters i play are from Namco though :) ,so i have to wait :(

i read PS1 had a mouse for use with games like x-com.

would x-com and a usb mouse work on PS2, or do we have to wait for a sony mouse?

i have no idea about the compatiblity issues with psx games and mouses but if it does work you don\'t need to buy a sony mouse...if you have a usb mouse it should work just fine.

as far as i know, the saved games work on the bought versions too. there shouldnt be a difference. have you ever brought ur memory card over to a buds house for the saved game on it? same thing. it will work.

are you trying to say like..you go to blockbuster and rent a psx/ps2 game and then later on you go buy the game and want to resume where you left off on the game you bought? if so then the answer is "yes!"

I would ask this in the main forum, because there are more Playstation fans there.

Ouch..........well I try to be as neutral as possible. I mean why do I have to be a fanboy because of my name. I like my ps2 and it\'s games. I just like XBOX too I want a totally new gaming experience that is why I am so hyeped about it. And I did not tell him to dumped ps2 and buy an xbox. I thought I gave him a good answer for his situtation.

I personally don\'t know what to make of your opinions. I\'ve always respected them and never actually replied to any of your many comments that suggest / hint that X-Box is superiour to PS2.

As a whole though I feel that you have simply stated that X-Box is superiour in FAR too many posts, esp considering that the console hasn\'t even been released yet, and that PS2 has just began its life.

You say your neutral but im beginning to think that your a fanboy. I mean afterall why should you personally want the X-Box to succeed other than to play great games ? It seems by the way you constantly praise the machine that you want it to succeed for more reasons than this, i.e. Fanboy reasons.

Theres no need to route for Microsoft, the same reason as theres no need to not route for Microsoft, just dont get too carried away with them or you may be disapointed come X-Box launch day. I mean prasing them in every post, having your nick name as X-Box etc. It would give a handful of people great pleasure in knowing that your beloved console flopped. Not that im saying it will, im sure it will do well. You just seem really hyped about this thing and theres nothing worse than feeling disapointment about purchasing a console at launch day price, hay I certainly felt it with the PS2.

Anyway please don\'t reguard these comments as me belitting your opinions because im not, infact I agree that anyone considering getting a PS2 should wait.
