ps2 controller VS FPS
« on: July 19, 2001, 11:52:46 PM »
Man I think that ps2 pad was made too much for japan hands. I just cannot enjoy playing fps with the ps2 pad. I mean I have big american hands. And my hand takes up to much space on the controller. Then I got to turn with analog, move with the d-pad then try and shoot strait. I don\'t think the ps2 controller is made to be used on fps games. I see why everyone says a console controller will never come close to keyboard and mouse. Anyone else dislike playing fps with ps2-pad?

I agree that a console controller will never be as good as a keyboard and mouse, but I think the PS2 controller is very good for FPSs.  I use both analog sticks to move and look around, and shoot, jump, and duck with the shoulders.  The PS2 controller is the best controller for FPSs IMO.

The designe was absolutely perfect for the dual-analoge controls of "Ape Escape."  I also find the anologe sticks more preferable when plaing "Midnight Club."

the ONLY console FPS that did a gamepad justice was Model of Honor 1 and 2

I refuse to use a KB/Mouse for anything. They werent meant for playing games, I prefer any controller  to KB/M for any game, including FPSs.

I hated the Ps2 controller for FPS when I first played timesplitters, but then I got used to it and now I prefer the controller over the Kb/mouse.  It\'s all personal prefrence here.

The keyboard/mouse controls are way more accurate than any controller ever could be.  That is why most FPSs on the PS2 have an auto-aim feature (I turn the auto aim off on all PS2 FPSs because I think it\'s cheap. :))  I can\'t see playing a console with a mouse and keyboard though.  I don\'t want to sit at a desk when I play console games.

go the PS2 controller...i hate having to have a third hand in half life to change weapons with decent speed, TimeSplitters controls are the go for me

although, the aiming and such will never be as quick and as accurate as it is with a mouse

If I plug in my USB optical mouse will it work on any present games?  (I can\'t test it out for two weeks \'cause I don\'t have a TV right now.)

You don\'t have a TV?  So that\'s why you have been posting here so much. :D  I think all USB mice and keyboards will work on the PS2, but the games have to support it.  I just checked, and my mouse is USB too! :)  Now I just need a FPS game that supports it.
