ps2 controller VS FPS
« Reply #15 on: July 21, 2001, 01:25:22 PM »
I prefer my joystick  and keyboard. Both are excellent. You get the joy of shooting a real tripper and the Force Feedback from it. Move with the directional pad, jump crouch, all the buttons then are control, shift,  and this one with a symbol on it. but they are all right there. Joystick and keyboards are a whole lot better for Unreal Tournament on the PC.

For along time since  1991, I have had a small Suncom joystick, 2 button (one trigger and one large on on top), this joystick has served me well all these years, but last year I said I need something knew. So I went to my local best buy and bough this nice Logitec Wingman Force 3D joystick. It was cheap and only 50 dollars. It is built for American hands. it has a special little ledge at the botton of it that your hand can just sit on, instead of having to grasp the stick with all your life so it doesn\'t slide off. With this it just sits there nicely and much more comfortably. it has one regular trigger. you can do rapid fire shots quicker with it. it then has a POV control on top that has 8 different directions you can look to the side in games with it or you can program heave POV up down, whatever, to have its own function when you press it. on top it also has 4 more buttons in 2 pairs, pointing out like a V with the POV control in the middle. All of these buttons and confortably reachable. Then at the base of the joystick, there are 2 buttons and one speed control that you can slide forward and back to decrease or increase your racing game speeds or in flight sims you can use it. It also has a turing feature to turn the stick with the wrist to either left or right to give you a quicker way to the point you want to look at, and it feels more realistic. The Force Feedback on this thing is incredible if you game supports it. Awesome  All the way, this joystick rocks. I think I just gave a review on it didn\'t I? Oh well:)

LMAO! MOH and MOH:Undergroud\'s controls were easily the best for the dual shock, I owned the first one so I should now, but neither of them were as good as Goldeneye\'s and Perfect Dark\'s controls. The N64 may have been awkard for everyone, but for FP shooters and platformers it owned.

You and mm have some serious anti-Nintendo problems going on...

duh.

haven\'t you ever heard us talk?

And there is a difference between MoH and Goldeneye and PD.

MoH is extremely fun to play 1 player, and pretty good two player.

Goldeneye sucks 1 player, and is ok 2/3/4 player. I actually dislike the game, because there is so much cheap crap about it, if someone plays it more than you, you will NEVER win. It get\'s pointless. And nothing works better on the n64 controller, it is just the screwball of the controller family. Even after the Speedball for SMS.

I\'ve been playing this all weekend. GOD, this is a great game. I can\'t wait to play the Xbox version. I think its the intuitiveness of the MoH controls that makes it so perfect. Not to mention how incredible of a game it is. Goldeneye and PD were some of the best multiplayer games of last generation but the controls aren\'t as intuitive as the MoH controls.

Yes, and it\'s clouding both of your judgments.

Ugh.

Goldneye single player mode has tons of replay value. That is, IF your actually good at the game. If you sucked at Goldeneye then I can see how you wouldn\'t like it, but for others like me who mastered it, it was a blast. Trying to get cheats codes and beating levels on 00 agent took forever, adding to the replay value.

MOH\'s single game was over once you beat it. I went back once to beat it again for fun, but not as many times as I did in GE. Not even close.

Comparing they\'re multiplayers are pointless. I never heard anything about how great MOH 2 player mode was but GE\'s multiplayer was the best part of the game. \'Nuff said.

LOL! The N64 controller was designed around Mario 64, and 3D platform games in general. Tell me, what PSX, DC, or PS2 platform game has better controls than Mario 64?

Rayman 2 or Sonic Adventure both have camera swings that the player can do manually without moving his hands or fingers at all.

Mario 64 = not God\'s gift to platformers.

Yes, Jumpy, it has been eclipsed.

I absolutely hated the control for the 64.  Especially in the James Bond games.  My thumb is way to big for that itty-bitty "mini-joystick" in the controller.

Gawd I hate that!

Great, so did every other platform game ever released...

I know that silly. It was eclipsed way back in 98, when Banjo-Kazooie was released. :D

Really, I deel the same way about both of the MOH games.

It also gets hard looking at sprites instead of polygonal characters...

It had Duke Nukem like characters, spritish. Might of been 3D, but they looked like crap.
