Another Modification for my Car
« on: July 26, 2001, 07:17:38 AM »
I got a new mod for my car.  If you don\'t know what I have goto
http://www.doodmonkeyradio.com/audi/

I got  a Dell Latop for my car..  Its pretty nice, 13.1\' display, 4.1gb hardrive..  This this should be plenty for what I want to do..

I have a cable that connects to my laptop and into the cars central computer.  I will have complete access to the fuel system, and all the different commponents of the car.  I will be able to pull up graphs on fuel consumption, timing, rpms, temerature,etc,etc..

When I get it all installed and setup I will take some pics..  This is only step one of my project.  I have a whole list of things that I am doing..  Its should be pretty cool when I am done.  Iwill keep you posted..

Who makes the software you are running to access your OBD II Computer?

WHAT ELSE ARE YOU TRYING TO DO WITH IT?  Sorry..  Anyway..  I don\'t know why you would need to tune your car more than once.  If you add a new component (IE, new cam, air cleaner, etc...) then I can see retuning the timing and fuel, etc...  BUt why would you need this all the time?

Its a VAG emulator.  Basically just like having the dealership computer system on my laptop..  There is more then just tuning you can do with it..  Plus I do autcross.  I can print out reports on shifting and fuel consumption..  So thats defiently deneficial...

Plus I can change the timing if I want, which is beneficial, since I am going to be removing my air box for a cone filter..  I can keep an eye on everything that is going on.

Also I plan on adding one of those little web cams, mount it in my car and take video when Im at the track...  There are so many things that I am going to be doing..  These are just a couple..

I plan on making a project page here soon to show everything I plan on doing...

Ohh and my stereo story..  Tweeter is asuming responsibilty..  I just need to bring my car to Audi and they are going to repair the wires for me..  Charge me, but tweeter is going to pay me back..  so thats going to be all taken care of..

I don\'t hink so,the system (as far as I know) is still experimental.

The net browsing hasn\'t been fully installed (some problem\'s or something, not with the car though)

This is like a CB Radio, cell phone, internet thingie all in one.
