"Play wise, 2002 is poised to become the most polished Madden entry yet, but the GCN version won\'t be finished for some months. In that time, EA Sports has indicated that it will be tweaking and modifying the game to work more intuitively with Nintendo\'s controller. That aside, the GameCube incarnation will play identically to its PS2 counterpart -- and that\'s not a bad thing"

"The GCN version of Madden 2002 does suffer from one major problem, though -- slowdown. Lots of it. The game was easily the slowest running of the three versions presented at the EA show today, which is rather baffling considering that it ran smoothly enough at E3 2001 in May. We asked Tiburon\'s Schappert why. "The GameCube version is running slow when there are wide shots and you can see a lot of players on the field, and sometimes on the sideline shots. And that\'s because the hardware that it\'s running on today is not final hardware," he explained. "The final hardware that we do have is currently in use by the programmers." Makes enough sense. And EA promises that the final build will run at a solid framerate by the time it ships in November. "

"All in all, Madden 2002 for GCN is looking solid, with the exception of its fluidity. We weren\'t expecting much more than a PS2 port of the game and judging by its showing this afternoon, that\'s exactly what GCN owners are going to get. But you know, that\'s not a bad thing. The days of shoddy ports from system-to-system are over, and GameCube owners should be thrilled to receive the best football game on the market later this year."

Sounds great to me.
