Also the thing about those models being straight from the Special Edition is false. That was proved about 10 days after that was said, plus there were no Digital SDs or B-Wings, or A-Wings for that matter.:wedge:

It probably is the best game I have ever seen. But it doesn\'t beat the pants off of all the X-Box games, you can\'t compare, for example,  shooting to fighting, shooting to racing, apples to oranges.

X-Box doesnt have any shooting games that were made especially to use X-Box\'s power, just Star Wars ported from PS2 and that one flight sim by microsoft.

When Panzer Dragoon 4 comes out, we can then compare shooting game graphics. I have a feeling it will be BIG.

I have a feeling it will sell poorly because only 700,000 people have actually heard of the game to this point.

Relevance? None. But I\'m so terribly bored...

/goes back to playing one of the greatest RPGs ever, EarthBound. :)

Holy **** ! Those pics Jumpman posted !
If they\'d say those are mock ups I\'d believe
it.
Just look at it. Remember me ranting/raving
in some thread about the absence of Solid Snakes
shadow ? And then I see rt shadows in such a
big game !
Credit where credit belongs on this one : NGC and
of course the ppl at Lucas !:D

Anybody watch the pre-E3 Nintendo press conference?  During it they said that some developers would be able to use nearly all of the power of the GC immediately because it is so easy to program for.  They kept stressing the ease of development of GC and that was mentioned, if I can find the video again I\'ll quote exactly what was said.

Factor 5 said in some scenes the game is pushing 9million pps, nearly all the power of the GC.

From Jeff Spangenberg of Retro Studios during the pre E3 press conference;

you can get 90% of the maximum peak out of it(GC) straight out of the gate.

If I remember correctly, the Star Destroyer in RL pushes 8 million polygons by itself if shown. Then you add all the other ships in, particle effects, all the lighting, you get about 12 fps. 12mpgps is with all effects on. EA of Canada got 17mpgps with 4 texture  layers on.

I belive that Jeff was talking about getting what you have put into the code to run, at about 90% without having it to make big huge go backs in the programming to get it to run like the PS2 or N64. He wasn\'t talking about getting all of its power withdrawled right out of the box. Factor 5 says they are only using about a little over half its graphical potential. By launch it will most likely be a little under 75%.

When asked how many polygons the GameCube is pushing in Rogue Leader, Tosti offered a rough estimate of 150,000 polygons per frame or roughly 9 million polygons a second.

Quote
The various Rebel fighters you will pilot are made up of roughly 15,000 polygons, while enemy fighters start at 3,000 polygons and can be as high as 130,000 polygons, such as in the case of the Star Destroyer you encounter.

The rest of what Jeff said;

You are going to be able to focus on creating the game rather than...you know...struggling with the hardware.  It\'s basically going to be an incredibly powerful machine that\'s going to be easy to program for and say you can get 90% of the maximum peak out of it(GC) straight out of the gate.

A guy from Silicon Graphics was the one talking about what you said, being able to easily optimize it unlike with the PS2.

This is the best looking game I\'ve ever seen. Period. The fact that Nintendo can produce such high quality graphics is a real shame on the XBox. Nothing XBox has shown is even in the graphical ballpark of Rogue Leader.

Really?

So that doesn\'t look as good, if not better, than RL?

Exactly.  While RL looks great, it is not that great.  It\'s not very fair to compare different genres, but I think the Xbox has games that match or surpass RL graphically.

Hey, that\'s a good thing if you ask me. Instead of worrying about graphics, then developers can focus on great gameplay. I don\'t see a downside.

However, that statement is simply not true. If it was, then every NGC game would look as good as RL. But do they? Not even ****ing close. NGC\'s second best looking game, Luigi\'s Mansion, cannot compare graphics wise.

And Jeff Spangenberg....wasn\'t he fired by Nintendo? That\'s what I heard. Retro employees said he was never there. Hey, there were pictures of this guy partying, one even had him with a topless woman. How reliable is this guy?(not very IMO)

Oh God, let\'s not begin a "I\'m a better graphic whore than you" thread. They both look great, each in their own ways; let\'s leave it at that.
